mine has smooth edges from what I can see. I got the rubber strap and it is not bad. the buckle is very cheap.

Seamaster Planet Ocean (42.. the Ultimate PO comes in 45)... the AR on it gives it a subtle blue/purple tint depending on the lighting conditions.. it's normally black head on. My Seamster Professional Chrono does something similar where it's a blue/purple depending on lighting

I do prefer at least a 45mm though. 44mm is the smallest that I'm willing to go, and even that looks small to me.
