haha, sorry. Somebody that wears a homage watch, ie a watch that looks exactly like a rolex but stops short of putting the rolex logo/name on the face of the watch. Usually with chinese movement.

Oh okay. Watch vernacular has been improved. LOL! Oddly enough, my BMW M Chrono claims to have Swiss movement by RONDA??!?? I don't even know the difference between Swiss movement and Chinese movement. I'm a total watch n00b!

No offense to homage wearers, but I would stay as far away from them as I would replicas...
i like my homage. I have a couple nice watches I just don;t wear them anymore. I am not as stylish as I once was but now I don;t care. One of my employees has a real panarai and he held it up tom ine and thought it was damn close.

He paid 8600.00
I paid 65.00

I think I am ahead.

Dont sweat it. Just like anything else, some people get so into it you couldnt imagine.

End of the day, get what you like and best quality that you can afford (and stomach paying).

As mentioned above try to avoid fashion watches as they are usually overpriced junk.

Hamilton is a great American watchmaker with a lot of history (which watch people value).

I think Baume Mercier is good value, good quality at Macy's that can often be had at deep discount on sale...

I hear yah and frankly cant really argue against your point. I just kind of relate it to people throwing an M badge on a 318ti.

I enjoy the mechanics of my watches and like learning about the movements etc. Thats my main issue w/ teh homages I guess...

Sure it would! Dont downgrade your style because you have kids! You should be an example of style for your son/daughter...

Do they make the Hamiltons in anything larger than a 42mm? That's what is killing it for me.
This Hamilton Jazzmaster is 45mm and quite frankly, looks stunning. Much like the IWC Portuguese. But from the watches you've mentioned you like, this one might not be up your street.

Nice watch for sure, but a lil' TOO yachtsman. I'm an urban kind of guy.

I've had my eye on this black version of the Extreme SE Automatic for quite some time. I've come to realize that I'm gravitating towards black, sporty watches.

It is beautiful, but it's not something that a buff, bald black guy is going to be touting around town. I'd look like a goober with that beautiful ass yacht watch on. That's something akin to what a thin dude with khaki's, boat shoes, a button up and a V-neck vest would wear.

You almost perfectly described my very close family friend / realtor mentor minus the v-neck, and I think he's awesome.
