Wow, some real ballers in here

Here is my little old collection of daily beaters through the years, mostly Timex, Seiko, Swiss Army, and all Quartz! - Though I admit they are really accurate, only losing about 2 second a week.

However, I have decided to up my game recently, I've just ordered a Casio Edifice and Tissot PR200 T-Sport!

Considering I've never spent more than $78 for a watch, this is big move for me, especially with the Tissot, can't wait!!!

Grab an Orient, inexpensive good quality Automatic with an In-house movement. Owned by Seiko.

COSC is also not a big deal for 99.999999% of people. It's just a dick measuring contest, something to brag to your friends. I want to know if the OP (OP of the problem) ever wound the mainspring since he got the watch, or since the last time it was stopped. To get maximum power reserve (about 40 hours or so on a PAM), the mainspring needs to be fully wound, and the watch worn. With the spring unwound, you are looking at only a few hours of power until the watch will come to a complete stop.
Sorry was away from the forum for a bit...

The watch is losing about 10sec/day. Not 10/min haha...

Its not a fake. It was bought from a very reputable grey mkt dealer, but was certified by another AD.

I donít notice the 10 sec but I do measure it as I am a bit neurotic and was just curious until I noticed the "problem".

I have never wound the mainspring. Can you please elaborate?

To be clear, the watch never stops. I do take it off to sleep/shower/ etc, but it never actually stops.

Thanks!

To wind the mainspring, just wind the watch. Turn the crown clockwise with it pushed all the way in 20-25 times.

Ahhh. Ok, sorry I misunderstood. I thought there was something to do with allowing the power reserve to drain all the way, then wind it back up all the way.

I will try to manually wind the spring then test again. Thanks for the tip...

Every day (24 hours) give it 5 winds just to keep it wound.

It must have been in my kids play room. Me and the boys were having an angry birds fight, and it just appeared on the floor in front of me. Been looking for a month!

your son swiped it to impress some little girls at school
but you noticed it was missing before he could put it back ... so he panicked and hid it until today

112 is a manual though. I was talking about an auto...most think that autos don't need to be wound, but on occasion, they do.

I'm hoping someone could help me out with something. I bought a watch on ebay. I really liked the look and the auction said it was made pre 1920 and that it worked, so I said screw it and bought it since it was cheap.

I finally got it today after a month and it's weird... The internals and the face look old, but the case looks brand new. High polish and no scratches at all.

I like the look of it, but if this is just some crap watch that's 5 year old I don't want to pay what I did. It is labeled as a J. Wittenberg and the movement (skeleton back) says depose. Any info or help? I'm thinking of reaching out to the seller and saying the I finally received it but it is not at all as described and seeing if he will refund a portion of the purchase price, I just don't know how much I should be willing to pay for this.

Pics attached.

shouldn't you do this kind of research before you buy?
link to the auction page?

Like I said, if it was really that old I was fine paying the relatively modest price that I paid. Having it arrive and be clearly different than the information that was provided upsets me. I want to know what is fair before making an offer to him.

I paid $200 which I was fine with for a working 100 year old watch that I liked the look of. For a 10 or 20 year old watch that was advertised as being 100 years old, not so much...

On my phone so I don't know how to post a link to the auction.

you can find a link to "share" your auction page from the app, probably
or go into your email and find the ebay emails

if something is advertised as being a 100 years old, i'd do even more research than on something that is from the present day and readily available
