Outside of safety gear (motorcycle riding jacket, for example) or a baseball cap, I would not wear a vehicle-branded piece of clothing. I think it's all douchey.

And yeah I have a seiko and my breed watch is coming in
well I'm an offender of having car/ motorcycle gear and I don't own any of those vehicles. Rocking a tesla keychain, have a Ferrari drawstring bag, and Ducati shoes that I wear a lot because they are comfortable. The only BMW merchandise I have is an umbrella.

And the estimate is in. $917 for the following:
Overhaul (Refinish case and bracelet, gaskets, disassembly of movement, ultrasonic cleaning, re-oiling, re-calibration of movement) - $500 Six movement parts - included Crown - $21 Crystal - $29 Bezel - $200 New Dial - $88 New hands (set of six) - $79 Pusher assemblies (two) - $80 ($40 each) This is essentially a complete restoration for that price, minus the bracelet. They did find a new-old-stock bracelet for $350, though. I'm waiting to discuss it with my Father in Law. It seems pretty fair to me. |

Sounds fair to me. Some of those steps are pretty time consuming, and a lot of skill is required. My opinion? I'd do it. You can probably waste another 3 months finding someone else to do it for $100 less, but if you trust the people and expect a high quality job, I wouldn't hesitate.

It's definitely not a matter of finding a better deal, it's whether or not he's interesting in dropping $900 right now. This shop is pretty highly regarded.
Another option is to skip the bezel and face to maintain the vintage look, save a couple hundred. |

I say just go for the movement restoration and keep the rest original. I believe the crystal is hesalite which can be polished.

I personally prefer the UBOAT Thousands of Feet, furthermore, I can't mess with a watch with a crown on the left side.

Pretty cool Omega update...
My Father in Law would like to give me the watch as a birthday present, but only on the condition that I keep it to hand down to my son (his only male descendent thus far). As of now, we're going to split the cost of the restoration. I'm pretty excited. I'm actually considering selling off a couple of the quartz Tags I have to contribute to the work. |

I approve of the double post for how cool that is...
That said, let me know if you decide to sell a tag or 2. Looking for a nice Formula 1.

What double post?
I have 3 older Formula 1s 1. GID face stainless case (scratch in crystal) 2. Blue face plastic case, rubber strap (needs a new strap) 3. White face chrono, excellent condition See photo - not sure on current value. Last time I checked, the smaller ones were hitting around $200 and the Chrono was around $350. |
