That's nearly the cost of the new old stock bracelet they sourced. I can see finding a non-replica, unbranded alternative deployment clasp.

Believe it or not, I have not really done much research to find images of examples in that condition - that's the first image I've seen of a 'new' looking speedy pro of the same vintage. I'm in love - can't wait to see this thing redone.

Ken, with the Speedmaster, you're going to have a lot of options with straps as I feel it goes well with almost anything.

*all images borrowed from people on TZ

I really like the double ridge on the Speedmaster. Used to rock mine with the black double ridge

Also, just get an 18mm deployant from this guy. Well under $50 and it does the job pretty well. I still have one or two of his deployants in case I need to use one.

Heres an idea

Generic deployant (looks just like the Omega original)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPLOYMENT-B...item256db4ab92

Then get whatever strap you like to fit it.... here are a couple of cool ones! Couldn't find a cheap perforated one that fits the deployant. Wow all this talk and I really want a Speedy now!

i dont mind aftermarket straps but I would try and get an OE deployment clasp w the logo...just my preference imo

Most of the straps pictured above will have to be run with standard tang buckle. The strap maker would have to thin out the ends to fit a deployment clasp.

I agree with you 200%, but its a cheap alternative considering he is paying for a bracelet restoration.

Why wouldn't the straps I showed fit the deployant? It says they fit OEM, and the clasp is shown as OEM style (just without logo)

I am not an Omega buff, but this thread has got me really into Speedmasters.... I should lay off Rolex for a while

normally the deployment straps are tapered thinner towards the end to fit in the deployment clasp and fold inward. Those other ones are too thick, you could make it work but it will be uncomfortable. Good thing I sold my Panerai and all the straps, once the strap bug bites you dont stop

it has a bit of a cheap look but for $100 to **** around with, sure.

make sure to get the Speedy Pro, manual wind. That is the one anyone who wants a Speedy should get.

What do you guys think about the customization of high end watches? Would it devalue the watch? I could possibly have possession of a rolex daytona but do not particularly like the looks of it. Im looking at sites such as http://www.blackoutconcept.com/en/

This seems like a good option. I'm going be on the lookout for a darker brown version of these with the deployment taper.

Thanks to everyone for helping with this research!
