Post What suspension to buy?

I have a 2003 330ci with sport suspension. I am looking to replace the OEM shocks/struts but do not want to sacrifice ride comfort. I would like to have a better performing shock, any suggestion are appreciated. This is my daily driver, which I do not track, but appreciate better performance.

I am looking at the Koni and Billstein sports which are a bit out of my current budget ~500 for all 4. Thoughts?

I replaced my stock susp parts with Koni STR.T Shocks and Struts. Equal to or better than the original ride (not harsh at all), with just enough extra firmness in the corners. But you are right about price...NorthAmerican Motorsports (NAM) sells em for $411 but with free shipping. NAMO runs specials from time to time where you can get them for closer to $300 than $400, and you might send a PM to NAMOTORSPORTS on this board explaining your situation..who knows!

Hey, fellow 330ci driver here that doesn't want to sacrifice ride comfort and doesn't track, but appreciates better performance from their daily driver.

I went with Koni FSD shocks- I think they actually ride smoother than OEM, but the suspension performs a bit tighter. Also, they're one of the few suspension upgrades that doesn't lower your car, so you can just use the OEM springs. So that's my 2 cents from someone who was under the same exact situation/tastes.

Koni FSDs are your best bet for an OE style replacement. I agree that they are smoother than stock and offer better performance as they automatically stiffen when cornering. You may need to upgrade your rear shock mounts and replace the front control arm bushings as well as those are common failure points on the E46.

If your willing to stretch your budget slightly I would suggest you take a look at

Unlike competitors spring and shock kits H&R Cup Kits are not merely a 'matched' spring and shock package but rather a specially engineered 'solution' with springs and shocks being engineered individually in every application.

This takes the guess work out of your spring and shock selection and provides you with an application specific precisely calibrated spring and shock set designed to deliver improved handling uncompromised ride comfort and sleek styling in one precision engineered package.
