Unhappy Just install new fuel filter..and now car wont start!!

This is what i did:

1. Installed the new fuel filter...everything i followed as per DIY - removed fuse 54...put the new ff in right direction.

2. Now after i finished i put the key into position 2 for couple of time for allowing enough pressure build up (i have half fuel tank up)

3. When i tried to start the car it cranks but wont start - after couple of times doing same thing...now its just dont start...i can here the click from fuel pump..

Up untill now everything was runnning perfect.
for the battery...i can even play my ipod from factory system...still..even after it wont start...so i thibk battery should be okay.

PS: is the startig has anything to do with secondory air pump...i am asking as one my hose which connects air pump to valve is teared up...so i put some duct tape onto it untill i get new one.

Please help....BIG EVENT TOMMOROW TO ATTEND.

Just because you can play music does not mean that you have enough voltage to crank the engine. Get a charger on the battery.

I'm leaning toward somthing in the fuel system causing it to not start. Are you sure you put the hoses on in the right locations on the filter? The fuse is back in and not blown? No leaks? Double check your work.

The SAI pump will not cause it to not start, as far as I know.

thanks for your reply.

this is what is did though.

I dont see any leak...i put the filter through the right hose...as in the back its has two hose and in the front one hose with small air valve hose. so i followed same direction.

i even swap the fuse with the new one...nothing happened now!

Just to make sure, you switched the two lines on the fuel filter correct? The two that go from the fuel filter to the engine cross over each other.

when changing the fuel pump, you inevitably introduce air into the fuel lines.
Crank a few times to work the air through the system, gasoline will make to the injectors and should start.
You mentioned your battery; if you have any doubts, get a voltmeter and check for voltage before you do any more work. You should see at least 12v or even high 11v's.

Good Luck

You just put an new fuel filter (filled with air) into your fuel line. You also likely drained some of the fuel line from the filter to the injector rail and it would fill with air.

You may need to crank the engine for a while to get rid of all the air in the fuel line to get fuel back to your injectors.

Don't crank the engine for more than about 20 seconds at a time, let the starter cool down between tries.

sap hose might also contribute.

Remove hose from the valve on the engine and look to see if you have a ball of gunk from 'corroded inside part of hose'

I had a corroded hose and tape works temporarily, but if the valve is clogged, she'll stall out. You might have plugged that valve totally closed and maybe the car remembers and knows not to start.

Easy to remove and look...and get a new hose...like 10-15$ Unplug the valve with dental pick!

HTH

Also, read all the millions of starting issues threads of late too. Although yours is prolly related to what you'd just done, it isn't always necessarily so...but you do have to play the odds...so something with fuel filter and sap are likey bets.

HTH

disconnect the battery for a while. then reconnect, try and jump start again.

i also figured it to be just no fuel pressure since line was open for new filter. but since you say now dash lights go and only a click that sounds like battery.

Remove the hose from the valve and look for stuff stuck in the inlet where the hose from SAP goes.

I haven't removed the valve...being 'tool challenged' for that...and haven't needed to. I have a new gasket for it though, waiting for that day!

Use a dental pick to pull out anything in inlet...worked for me.

now i just install the new hose...but no luck.

i am thinking now.

1. battery is gone because ABS, Tranny, Brake and SES Lights are on when i put the key to no.2 position.

2. or may be i run out of fuel + bad battery.

I have AAA guy coming over with fuel and jump start help.
I will report it back.

Maybe your tank is empty. Try adding a gallon or two of gas. It's pretty hard to screw up on just installing a fuel filter.

click click click is dead battery.
Dmax, whats all that youre saying, you lost me.
if u can still hear the fuel pump prime, its most likely fine. as the guys said, there is a lot of air to push out now.

Are you 100% positive you put the two hoses from the fuel tank back in the correct place?
One is a return line to the fuel tank.

Switch the two hoses on the rear of the filter.
If that doesn't work, try the old filter again.
