Lightbulb Any words on Dubai?

Hello, will be traveling to Dubai Feb 23rd to Mar 2. Wondering if anyone has been out there. Im pretty much getting really nervous about this trip due to ISIS and other threats. I assume that white americans aren't liked very much in that part of the world. Considering just canceling the trip completely. Wondering what anyones opinion is, have you been? How was it? Did you bring your gf/wife out there. Also my girlfriend is blonde hair blue eyed Im sure we might stick out like sore thumbs.

PS sorry if this sounds crazy, but i think the media and just general vicinity of Dubai is getting to me. Thanks!

I was there 4 years ago. I had some of the same thoughts prior to my trip however I felt very safe while there. Be respectful of Their culture and you should be fine. There were plenty of light skinned visitors there - they get a fair amount of tourism.

Don't kiss your girlfriend in public. Or just don't go. That would be my advice. But if you go I would suggest looking up travel advice to Dubai. There are some helpful tips out here.

Any idea on terrorism out there? Just worried we might be targeted as Americans in the middle east. Thanks in advance!

Do everything you can think is undoubtedly American while you are there. Show them you're proud to be 'Merican.

Plenty of other places to vacation brah, I wouldn't go over there. My friend took a fight in U.A.E., I thought he was crazy. I wouldn't have done it.

OP, you'll be fine. The UAE is pretty safe. I've been to Dubai and there are plenty of expats and westerners there despite what's going on in the Middle East.

Why do you think that's crazy? UAE isn't some backwards place. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are quite modern.

This. I have a friend living there now. He loves it. It really seems like a huge party all the time. Go and have fun.

Dubai is the NYC of the Middle East. Very modern and very friendly to white American tourists. Great shopping here (not as good as American outlet malls in my opinion, especially Woodbury commons).

There is tons of fun touristy stuff to do. Hit me a PM if you're interested, I'm in Abu Dhabi right now. Go to Dubai almost every week to party.

Edit:
The Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) area reminds me 100% of Miami Beach. Hottest chicks walking around sidewalks in bikinis. I was actually shocked to see that so openly here. If you get a hotel around that area you will have an awesome time. Check tripadvisor, very good feedback there for all activities.

Seriously?

I've been there several times and this place is like nothing else in the world. I certainly felt safer there than I ever did in Mexico. Most of the people living there are migrant workers from places like India anyway, the other half are rich, western educated sheikhs who only care about making money and don't care about hurting random Americans and who have nothing in common with the brainwashed terrorists from war torn, uneducated villages of Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, etc... People stop watching Fox News, it literally messes up your brain.

I spent a few vacations there. I highly recommend it.

Completely safe. Lots of Asian girls at the clubs.

Hotel called the "Russsian". Guess what kind of girls were there?

Buy your booze at the duty free at the airport. Much cheaper.

Would love to go check out Dubai some day. Too much of a pheasant though. Another drawback is that place has too many people. Beautiful setting, but too f-ing crowded for my taste. Too much shit going on.
