Dynavin solutions

So jeff in the above is that referring to an iPhone4 or are there still no documented cases of iPhone4s either jb or not getting video to work with they dynavin through the built in cable

Hey Chase, I think it is something different with the iphone 4.....I hooked up my 3GS to a dynavin V4 yesterday and it worked exactly the same as my older dynavin (in other words....it worked) Now I know for a fact that Apple broke some functionalities with iOS4 and the iphone 4. Another product I sell, the iSimple audio gateways....we actually are going to have to take them out of the car, open the case, remove a cirucit board, and replace it with a new one that is iOS4 compatible........As you can imagine, some customers are pissed, they bought an ipod interface, and it worked fine, they upgrade to iOS4 and now they have to take it to an installer and pay for parts and labor to get it working again!?.....

EDIT: So I go to PACs website to get a link showing you what I am talking about in the above post....and now the circuit board fix is even gone and it just says "not compatible with iOS4".....http://pac-audio.com/productDetails....&CategoryID=36

If I am Following you guys, the video is the issue with the iphone4 right? Playing the iPod from the iphone4 isn't a problem correct?

correct, it does not seem to like to output video through the dynavins ipod cord, you can of course still feed video into the AUX in but is seems that the iphone 3G and 3GS behave differently than the 4.

Right, the audio works fine through the ipod video (old school) and my iphone 4. It's just the video that is fail... i'm running RCA cables to resolve the issue and hope that they come out with a solution going forward.

Jeff, just to double check, this means that, even if I downgraded to the old os for dynavin it still wouldn't work with ios4 right?

Correct, dont bother changing the firmware as i have now tried my iphone with both the older and the newer and the results are identical. Im almost positive at this point that your iphone4 is rejecting the dynavin. Keep in mind with your old school ipod, i have not seen confirmation that a regular ipod has ever displayed video on the dynavin, i have only seen it work with iphones and ipod touch.

Well guys, good news and bad news......Good news is your response to this new business venture has been phenomenal!

Bad news is....the next shipment, expected in september, is now sold out too!

At this point I can't take any more new reservations as I will not be able to guarantee delivery beyond the existing reservations that I have already taken.

If you would like, I can still take your name and email address to keep you up on developments, and you would be first in line in case of cancellations, also the first to hear when I do start taking reservations again, but for awhile at least, no new reservations.

well, definitely glad I got on the sept list. unfortunate for the ones that didn't, but hopefully dynavin will be able to work on getting the supply increased.

I sent you a new wire harness so you will need to ground the park wire, the one from my car was all chopped up from all the different stuff I have done in my car.

If I were you I wouldnt try to run new speaker wire unless you absolutely have to (I did read your other post as well), there is a good writeup here that should allow you to reconstruct your wiring and figure out what the previous installer did: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showpos...&postcount=614

I realize this isnt exactly what you are doing but it has all the wire color codes and the wire locations so that you can figure out exactly what you are looking at.

hey jeff, i just got my v3 unit yesterday and i guess i should have asked earlier but are the only changes from v3 to a v4 the knobs and the upgraded software? I have the HK system so do I still need to purchase a line output converter. says on the unit itself it was made 05/2010 so i'm assuming it's a v3. Thanks for any help you can give me.

you have me confused man.....i assume you did not order from me?? I have never sold any V3 units but to answer your question, yes, if you have a unit with the old knobs it would be a good idea to use an LOC if you have any noise issues. The newer units come with the LOC. The only difference between the V3 and V4 is the knobs, the software is basically the same.

Im looking to put a dynavin in my X5 when the unit comes out for the 5/X5 series. Can anyone attest to the sound quality when you remove the factory (I assume HK) radio head unit and put the Dynavin in? Like does the sound still sound full and clear and is the CD player in the Dynavin any good? Baisically can anyone who still has stock everything talk a little about the difference between %100 stock audio quality vs Dynavin installed quality.

Hey Guys, just a heads up. Im taking my little girl to Disneyland next week so I will be scarce....ill still be checking my email periodically so you can find me there but I wont be posting any extensive answers or picking up my phone at the office, ill be back next weekend and will try to get caught up then.


And to keep everyone in the loop, dynavin is telling me they will be producing units around September 15-20, so barring delays (like last time) we should see them around the end of the month.
