Just for clarification for me and others possibly:

I take it that the O2 Sim one would want would be the "Univeral Dual Output" from O2simulator.com?

http://www.o2simulator.com/index.php...products_id=10

Just wanted to clear this up for those who want to go that route.

Thx!

BTW, awesome writeup! I'm gathering parts as we speak! Already read it through probably 5 times, along with the linked threads/sites.

Thanks and mad props!

I would recommend holding off on this. Cause I definitly got one from them and it would only work with a siemens and not bosch sensor. So don't order from them. Also their customer service is non existant. I am getting one from anthony at bimmer brakes and will report back if it works. So hold off for a few days.

Awesome, thanks! I'll stay tuned for an update. I can live with the CLE for a while. I take it the install will be the same with the one from Bimmerbrakes? So I can get everything preped and ready? I'm planning on installing it as per this thread:

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=689863

with a few personal touches.

I hear you on that one, although they did deliver the M30B35 oilpan for my M30 E30 swap a day ahead of time.

Good luck!

those fools at USPS are still investigating. hopefully i will find myo2 sim by tomorrow morning. if not I am sure that Anthony @ BB and I can come to some sort of agreement ok with both of us since we share the shipping risk. also the bearing on my water pump is giving up. great more money out the door. will let you guys know as soon as i have some answers regarding the sim.

Questions about removal:

1. I've unbolted the passenger motor mount. I don't have enough room to lift it out. How high can I jack the engine up to remove it?
2. How are you jacking up the engine? The jacking point I'm using is the oil pan with 2x4s. Is there a better location?
3. What tools did you use to remove the manifold nuts? Everyone mentions using a racheting wrench, but I don't see how to get one in there since the heat shield is in the way.

Q1) you can jack the motor up, until the motor starts to lift the car up from the drivers side mount..... so you have a way to go...
Q2) a 2X4 to spread the load, under the oil pan with a 20 ton bottle jack. or any type of bottle jack really
Q3) you can get a wrench in there, its a tight fit, and a HUGE pain in the ass, but it can be done... this is why the header job takes close to 8 hrs.... if the motor was out of the car, you could do headers in like 10 min.... but since there is almost no room, some of the nuts, are one click at a time, on a ratcheting wrench. you might also want to get some S wrenches, or at least one that is the size of the nuts... we had to use one on mak's car, on his rear header, rear most bottom bolt. if you pull the windshield washer tank out, and the secondary air pump out, that will make things easier as well.

this is an S wrench

if you have a harbor freight near you, you can get a set from them for cheep, they wont be ratcheting like the one in the picture though.

I would also like to add to the third question. They are really pretty easy to get to as far as removal is converned. pull out the header closest to the front of the car first, and then take the shorter one out. remember what I said about pulling the windshield wiper tank and the pump. it all comes down to just doing it. no amount of tools will make it simple but a decent set of ratcheting wrenchs (both S and straight) as well as a 1/4 driver ratchet and a 3" extension can make it easier. but in the end you just have to get your hands in there.

Alright. Going to use the tips for removal tomorrow.

Didn't think it would be such a PITA, all the bolts are not in your view so your working blind.

Use your fingers. if you cant feel out the nut on a bolt, this may not be something you were cut out to do. It jsut takes determination. believe me. a guy like you really wont have any problems. but if you do PM me it be way faster.

it definitly tricks the CEL and the o2 sensors but whether it will pass inspections i another thing entirely. time to do some more research. This is Anthony@BimmerBrakes o2 sim. I have found him to be a much better vender than o2sim.com.

Sorry for stupid big image.

How many miles did you log? I don't think you can have more than 2 incompletes and pass inspection, in NY anyway.
