Exporting a car from Abu Dhabi to the US?

Hey Bimmer fans!

A year ago, I imported my 2001 330CI into Abu Dhabi. US Specs, it's treated me well over here - though at times, the AC hasn't always been cool enough.

It's time to send it home to the US, and I'm curious if anyone here has exported a car from Abu Dhabi to Baltimore. Aramex is quoting me ~$1800 for shipping +2600 AED for "Export Formalities and Handling" (whatever those are).

1) Does that price sound fair?
2) Any suggestions on a shipping company other than Aramex?
3) Anybody have success shipping a car and household effects in the same container?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

Ben

Try DAS autoshippers as an alternative:

Even if this is a corporate move, you might consider the alternative of selling the car locally and buying something else (time for an M3?) in the US. $1800 to $2600 is quite a bit of the US market value of a 2001 330ci, even if it has very low miles.

Thanks. I'll check out Das.

And, yes, it's a large chunk of change to ship it back, but it's a convertible, and I owe more on it than I can sell a US spec car for in the UAE. So, just put it on my tab...
