My Ride: 2000 BMW 323i
Question 323i drives smooth but power feels very weak is it suppose to be this slow

I have a 2000 323i that I've had for about a year and a half. Ever since I bought it I thought the car felt extremely weak, not powerful at all. When I hit the gas it sounds like it's gonna do something, but I can get whooped my a cavalier. I've just always figured it was because it didn't have a lot of horse power. That is till I rode in another 323i that was all stock, unmodded. It felt like what I was expecting.

Mine drives fine, idles and accelerates smooth, just really weak. Anybody have any ideas? Cheap mods for some hp. I'm not talking about $300+ dollars for a cai that may give 5hp.

I appreciate any comments.

i dont get raped by civics.

the key to performance is power + lightweight body. I suggest getting stock m68s or dforces if you can afford them. and put some headers in there. make 175 at the wheels and with a decent set of springs you will outhandle just about everyone. certainly a rice hatch.

I've got a 2006 Magnum srt8 that's modded for my hp fix. I bought the 323i cause it was nice looking, fare price, and I needed something that got better gas mileage for driving back and forth to work. It runs and drives good, just weak. I was kinda hoping I might be missing something simple. Oh well.

Thanks for the responses thus far.

always start with light rims. get a whole complete exhaust system with light pipes, m3 hood (alot lighter than stock hood) front and rear m3 bumper assemblies(replaced the heavy aluminum bars and bumper shocks with oem foam and carbon kevlar bars) CF trunk, nttn in the trunk (no spare no nothing not even tools), and i only weigh 125 lbs so im light i usally only have half a tank or less of gas in my car

i know how perfectly launch my car, i only have intake and exhaust.

can get my car to 60 in about 6.7- 6.8

well the best bang for the buck would be a supercharger! AA makes a real good kit for this car, not worth it if you have a automatic. it makes around 280 rwhp for about 7,000 installed.
