The F30 3 Series is supposed to return to the size of the e36/e46. Something to look forward to

i really doubt that since they are competing with mercedes and audi and it's a male dominant car so size probably matters

The rules of the game have changed with the introduction of ever increasing fuel and emission regulations out of Europe and the United States. If it was such a male dominated industry, then why did Audi dump the V8 platform for an FI V6 in the new S4? One way to increase fuel economy is reduce weight and size.

That will be a good looking car (finally) if they keep it pretty close to that design. That's the first new BMW design I've liked in....probably a decade, lol

Those are still renderings, but based off the most recent spy photos. So those are the closest ones to date. I imagine the final product will be slightly different.

The technology behind some of the cars today is nothing short of astonishing. Engineers can squeeze more and more power out of the same displacement while increasing fuel efficiency in the process. The power wars will never seize, but the window in which they have to work is getting smaller and smaller.

That's been the trend for most automotive companies, each generation is slightly larger and heavier than the previous, but there is a breaking point, especially when you considering something like CAFE. The 3-Series is the highest volume seller for BMW, it makes sense for them to increase fuel economy so that the rest of their line up can remain competitive and viable.

From the articles I've read, and based on the spy shots, there seems to be some truth behind the F30 being similar in size to the e46. If people want a larger platform, they can purchase a 5-series. Audis have always been pigs.

the 3 series is the right size the way it is today with the e9x. otherwise, there will be a huge gap between the 3 and 5 series in size. if bmw wants to provide consumers with a smaller alternative, they can expand the 1 series lineup by introducing a 1 series sedan and bringing over the 1 series wagon.

I love the 1 series after my short stint in a 135i. The M version looks amazing; I don't think it needs any headlight changes due to how wide and aggressive those front fenders are.

i think the testing behind this car maybe points to a "unique" engine for this car, an M specific motor, perfected from n54 or n55.

with 360 hp, when more info is released might call up the bmw dealer afterall

says the guy with an h2, nothing fake about this car, m3 is amazing, but don't discount a very anticipated car that will focus on track and driving experience.

At the end of the day, the 1 series M is a car thats fakin moves to get more sales for the M division by having a lower priced M car for people who could never afford them before.

M3 or better.
