Hey Im new tot his site. I have been a BMW fan almost all my life. I bought my first bmw a few years ago when I was 18 and now have 3 of them. I scored on my first one the E46, it came tinted and with new tires and rims, Hamann HM1's. Its not as spunky as my M3 or the z3 but she gets the job done when I just want to take it slow. The one I am wanting to change up a little is my E46 323ci 2 door. I bought the car with the VIS carbon hood on it and didn't like it from day one. I still have it. I wanted to get rid of it so I tossed it on craigslist wanting to trade it for a stock one. I was just wondering, if no one wants it should i just "pitch it" and buy the stock one or could I paint over this one? would the cracks show through the new paint? what about the "dulling", will that have any effect on the paint? I just want the clean, classy, stock look back. I want to look proffessional not all riced out. Any suggestions?

Keep an eye on the For Sale section. A lot of people will put up a stock hood for sale when they change to an aftermarket hood. You could also create your own "WTB: Stock Hood" thread in the For Sale section as well.
WTB = Want to Buy (assuming this might be a new term, since it's your 1st post) And on that note. Welcome to the forum!

It has the small vent up at the top just like the stock hood that it. From the research ive done it has to be a 1999 or 2000 hood cuz of the fenders?? IDK exactly. I could posta few pics of it if I knew how. I can email though! lol

You mentioned cracks? Are there cracks in your carbon fiber hood? am I understanding that correctly? Yes, You could just have it painted and be done with it. Its a common weight saving practice. However, with a bit more effort, you may be able to make some money off of it, assuming a CF hood is worth more than an OEM one. I dont know details, but it seems logical to me. Youll also have to deal with shipping costs.
