Alarm and Headlight problem

I wonder if anyone else has come accross this or know what it could be.

For a while now I have been experiencing two common problems.

1. If I lock my car via the key so that the alarm is activated, it goes off at a random time within the next hour with no clear rason as to why. ie doors locked, no windows open, etc.

2. Whenever I switch my headlights on (xenon) 8 times out of ten only the left hand one comes on. The right one will then pop on by iteself between 2 minutes later to not at all.

Does anyone think that these two might be connected as someone has suggested to me that it may have something to do with some sort of 'Control Module.'

If not, can someone give me some suggestions or ideas as to what it might be and what I can do to test/fix the problems.

Car is 2002, 330ci, convertable, M-Tech, automatic transmission.

Thank you.

I would think your issues are not related.

The headlight issue is probably 1 of 3 things:

1. Bulb
2. Ballast
3. Wiring

Probably in that order. Easiest way to start with the headlights is swap bulbs and see if the problem moves with the bulb.

As for the alarm, assuming it is an OEM alarm, my guess would be a hood or trunk switch, search the forum for other comments on the hood and trunk switches for the alarm.

Is it ok to swap the bulbs as they are xenon?
