How to unstuck the parking brake cable ?
Searched but couldn't find anything about this specific problem.
Ok, so I'm in the middle of replacing my left rear wheel bearing. I ended up pulling the parking brake assembly off. And after removing it, the very end of the parking brake cable that comes through a hole in the trailing arm was sticking out by about 2 inches --so, ok that's fine. Then, I was testing how well it slides in and out and it was moving in and out by an inch or two. But when I last pushed it in, it got stuck. It seems to be stuck somewhere further back along the cable run...which of course you can't see because the cable goes back up under the exhaust and heat shield and so forth.
The end of the cable has sort of an aluminum nut on the end to prevent it from going back into the cabling sheath (kinda like the knot on the drawstring of your sweatpants that prevents it from retracting into the waistband).
So, anyways now when I grab that nut on the end, I am only able to move it in and out slightly (1/4" or so?) --it needs to come back out another inch or two. However, it is physically stuck somewhere back along the line. It's not rusted or anything, just being blocked by something.
Anyone had this problem or have any ideas?
