My Ride: BMW 318i SE
on ignition a/c goes on automatically...help

just got a bm and my main question might be a stupid one but if anyone could help i would gratly appricaite it.... as soon as i turn the key in the ignition the a/c goes on automatically....could it be turned off so i put it on myself?

yes, turn the A/C off before you turn the car off.
You can use the fan speed switch to turn the unit off.
Download an owners manual if you do not have one, it will answer many of your questions and you will learn much about your car if you read it! There is also a great sticky post with tons of information on the E46 models, also very good reading.
The climate control settings are stored in the key.
Take one key, start the car and set the A/C to 65 degrees, turn off the car. With the second key start the car, turn the A/C to 75 degrees, turn off the car.
Now use the first key, your A/C will set to 65 when you start the car.......

^^^^ that above post is very incorrect. Your IKHA (climate control) has been programmed for automatic AC activation with ignition on by a previous owner. You will have to visit your dealer or a german-specialized mechanic to have it disabled in car/key memory. While you are there, you can have other fun options enabled/disabled including this one.

+1 thank you for reminding me i am having my subframe inspected today at 3 and want to have my led blinker activated and my lights flash on lock while im there
