Trunk latch releases when shifting into reverse

For some reason my trunk latch releases when I shift into reverse. I suspect it could be a control module problem, crossed wires with the backup lights. or a loose latch, or .............. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how did you fix it?

I like the crossed wires theory, and have a feeling you'll find them crossed somehow in the bundle of wires hiding inside the rubber boot from body to trunk lid...just seems like that's it...

I know both are in there. You might, though first remove the covering from trunk to have a look see at any work that's been done up there...just four pull out rivets, I believe...a little more if you have to remove the tool kit, but pretty easy.

Otherwise, I'm going with that bundle...I've written on my repairs up there a number of times...so search me and reverse lights and think something will pop up.
