Transgender Bathroom Executive Action

Despite being conservative, I've adopted the mentality that 'Whatever makes you happy, do it as long as it doesn't impact others.' Drugs, sexuality, a woman's right to choose, choosing to fly southwest, do you! I'm often embarrassed by my party and their judgement on social issues and quasi wish for a fiscally responsible, national security minded, and socially liberal party to pop from the ether.

I appreciate that being transgender is NOT a CHOICE. It's how you were born. That being said, executive action forcing schools to chose between funding or a 'gender identity' bathroom policy is literally one of the most asinine federal directives in history. This is a state's issue. I agree with folks using the restroom that aligns with their gender identity but FORCING states to comply at risk of school funding is an overreach in the highest regard.

This whole bathroom issue is a huge distraction from real issues, and with that said, federal legislation at the tip of the spear is a pretty shitty way to enact change.

I lean right but could really give a **** about abortion, drugs, gay marriage etc. The bathroom laws are just weird though, I mean if you're really a tranny or a good enough cross dresser no one should bat an eye at you using the bathroom you prefer.

Kind of like when the most powerful man in the world took time away from his job to have a beer with a cop and college professor. Great use of resources.

Just create a third bathroom "no restrictions. Piss at your own risk" right next to the Men & Womens bathrooms.
win win, and another win for construction jobs.

Maybe we could also call it "Bathroom for the confused sex".

The directive specifically calls this out as unacceptable.

You all sound very Libertarian. Gary Johnson 2016.

I just don't get why bathroom exclusivity is such an issue. I mean it's not like we're in there showering together. A transgender standing next to me in the beer isle is gonna see just as much of my dick as he would standing next to me at the urinal. Is there some other issue I'm missing?

Locker rooms seems to be most "conservatives" go to reason why this is bad... of course the fact that, regardless of gender, open locker rooms results in someone who finds people in there attractive doesn't seem to let them realize that it's really no big deal..

you are way more likely to be molested by a republican senator or congressman than a tranny.

Locker rooms are in scope.

And it's not the issue in itself. It's the fact that Obama is FORCING schools to comply at the risk of federal funding.

I'll stick with trump and hope the party splits so a libertarian actually has a fighting chance in a few years.

executive action to prohibit discrimination seems appropriate.

human rights >>>>> state's right

Probably true. I'm amazed that this is an issue that politicians seem to have so much heartburn over (on both sides).

I more or less feel the same way. However, whenever I hear "states' rights" with respect to discrimination issues, I cant help but think of the whole civil rights thing, where most of the south was dragged, kicking and screaming into the modern era with respect to rights.

History has proven that issues of civil rights and liberties cannot be left up to the states.

Having said all that, I could give a fk about the issue. I do wish I was back in high school so I go hang out in the girls' locker rooms whenever I wanted...
