Where are all the good ZHPs?

Been searching for an '05/'06 coupe since Christmas. One sold before I could arrange a PPI, and another failed a PPI (contact me if you're considering a white '06 in the southeast and I'll save you the time and trouble).

Serious enthusiast buyer w/ cash in hand for an exceptional, accident-free MT car w/ under 40K miles and complete, up to date service records. In other words, a car loved and maintained by a serious BMW enthusiast who for some non-sinister reason is willing to part with their car!

Welcome to the ZHP Searchers Club. Finding a good example, at a reasonable price is a bit of a challenge, but they can be found. If I was looking for a coupé, I probably could have purchased one by now...they seem to be more prevalent than sedans lately. I think patience is key with the ZHP (rhyme not intentional).

If you bump up your mileage requirement by 10K you might have better luck. It took 6-7 mos for me to find mine. I came to realize that mileage becomes secondary for these cars. I have come across abused ones at 24K miles and really really nice examples at 60K.

+1

Low mileage isn't always the holy grail.

There are coupes out there, but only one got me intrigued enough to pay for a PPI, and that was a disaster.

Its a double-edged sword. Higher mileage cars are more likely to have the required service performed, while low mileage cars are rarely serviced based on time.

I'm not giving up yet, and am consoled by the fact that there is a ZHP Searchers Club!

i've, also, been looking for the "perfect" zhp. unfortunately, there is no such thing because you're going to have to give in to one or two of your "requirements."

honestly, who doesn't want a low-mileage, manual, AW, and CHEAP zhp??? they're kinda like a rare-a$s pokemon - when you come across one, you better catch that b1tch.

I just found mine here in San Francisco. 2004 sedan with 50k miles but impeccable service history and all records, garaged all its life. TiAg, black alcantara, 6spd, passed PPI with flying colors (in fact, everyone in the shop was sore that the owner hadn't contacted them first to sell it...).

It was on the market for 4 days before it sold. I paid $18k (including $500 worth of Thule bike rack, which I was going to buy anyway).

Took it down Highway 1 to Big Sur for the weekend. Heaven.

There was a glut of them six months ago at the height of the recession and all the owners though they were worth their weight in gold. Now the economy has recovered a bit, 335 and M3 prices have squeezed ZHPs into the ~$20 range, and there aren't any to be found within 1,000 miles.

These are great cars for $20k. However, for $25k you can have a really nice E46 M3.

true, but i factor in mods and maintenance costs like vanos rebuild, water pump, thermostat, other typical replacements and costs into the m3 as opposed to a non-m e46. which to me will easily make affording an m3 $10k more.

I would not hesitate to pay in the low 20s (even $25K) for the right car. I don't want the added expense of an M3; I have other cars that keep me entertained in that regard...

I am thinking about selling mine (but I have higher miles... 80,000). Car is spotless, and runs like my dad's 18,000 mile 330ci. I couldn't let it go for anything less than $24,000. You can check it out if you want, as I am right up the street from you.

Car is FULLY LOADED with every option POSSIBLE (except rear sun shade)
2006 330ci ZHP
6 sp Manual
Tiag/Black/Black trim
Leather seats and wheel
OEM Navigation
Ipod Aux
Moonroof
Heated seats w/ lumbar support
Premium Sound

Paint is 98% flawless (three rock chips). Garage kept, highway miles (as my fam and friends live in Stamford, CT).

Interior looks like it has 6,000 miles on it.

It's a perfect car. Def one of the best ZHPs in the country.

Spades' post is an excellent example of why ZHPs make no sense. A 2005 BMW M3 in great condition with 43k miles sold yesterday in Richmond for $23,000. And he's asking $24,000 firm for an 80k mile ZHP. Saywhat?

Um... it's the truth with these cars and you will not find a ZHP like mine.

Many people can afford an M at first, but then you have the cost of maintenance... and THAT is the biggest difference.

Besides, that's Richmond. Haha. It might as well be Alabama with the price of **** down there!

They are in Cali!!! Just got back from Cali. I was there for a week and must have saw 2 dozen zhp's. I've seen about 3 in the last 2 years near me.
