Need help finding correct tire size

I just bought a 2002 BMW 325Ci with stock 16 inchers. I bought in Virginia, but to pass my state's inspection (Maryland) our mechanic is saying I need new tires. That's all fine and dandy, I knew I needed them anyways, and I want to find them myself rather than over paying with his shop.

The current tires on it state their size as 205/50/R16
Looking online I cannot find a tire that is 205/50/R16. I see 205/45/R16 and 205/55/R16 but not 50.

Can I use a 55 or a 45? Did the PO put on the wrong size tires for my wheels? What would be the correct size for this wheel:

Thanks for your help. I'm new to BMWs.

Oem tire spec is 205/55/16. Original owner maybe change with 50 series. You can use 45 if you have 17's

So I'd be fine ordering 205/55/16 for these 16 inch wheels?
