more impressed each update and I agree with the engine cleaning, with all the work you are doing its a small detail that will make you wonder why you didnt do it when everything was apart.

Almost... I'd love to throw a turbo s14 in her, but that will be for after graduation lol.

In the meantime, I picked up a new rear bumper, so it was time to remove the old, heavy, cruddy ones she came with.

Front

Taking off the front bumper one of my fog lights tried to pick a fight with the garage floor. It didn't win the fight.

and Rear:

Not the holes in the above picture. The two you can see along the back edge are supposed to be there, it how the stock bumper mounts to the body. Sadly, the hole on the side is only for an 8 mm bolt. As you can see it has grown a little over time. And to top it all off there is pretty much the same problem on the other side, just much worse

Close up of the driver side between the rear tire and the back of the car:

Needless to say I was pretty upset upon discovering those spots (the ugly, gigantic rear bumper sides hid both of them). It was pretty much at this point I decided to see how far the damage went. Turns out the passenger rear fender had as much as 0.25" of bondo chilling under the paint. And of course under the paint was rust. Soooooooo I was at a cross roads. I grabbed a beer, sat down and thought it over. After some deep meditation weighing my options I came to the conclusion that I've already been through so much with her, and I just couldn't leaver her decaying away like that.

And so it begins. If you thought the other repairs were interesting, this is gonna get goooood.
