Software to clean up Mac?

I think I have adware, my mid 2012 MBP is running like absolute garbage. Very slow and constantly getting popups. Any recommendations on software to clean it up?

I'm not running anything on my MBP. Just clean up your hard drive.

Yeah I've hit the Abe question! My mbp literally just stared running like **** and getting pop ups all over place like 2 weeks ago. It's so frustrating I don't even use it right now.

I would google it. I did it a while ago for one of my macs that was acting up. Sometimes various sites leave a bad link in the Cache folder in your Library that makes your mac run slow, once you remove the caches, back to normal.

How computer illiterate do you have to be to trash a Mac?

Serious question.

^ He doesn't want to go there...there's plenty of PC vs Mac videos that go the other way.

A Mac is no more protected from viruses than a PC, they are just not the target of as many since they represent such a small portion of the computer market. As they gain market share, more will target them.

Too bad they don't have this for Mac yet or it would probably solve the issues http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-pctuneup
