Briarcliff Manor, NY
I notice that "Briarcliff Classic & Imported", just off 9A in Briarcliff Manor, NY isn't noted here. This is a great shop with a niche practice...he fixes all sorts of unusual cars, the sort of odd toys that would be in the garages of a nice suburb. Need a fix to your TR6 ? A rebuilt to your 190SL ? Even a check engine light on your senior citizen 330i ?
I've had them work on my 330i since the warranty went away in 2005. I've found them to be honest and straightforward. I've been told more than once that what the internet said is wrong with the car, isn't. I've not done any mods, stayed mostly OE or OE supplier. They will do anything you want, mod wise, though...I've seen enough examples. They are craftsmen, in every sense of the word. The only problem is that your e46 will be the dullest car in the parking lot. Ask for Bob, 914 762 1200

I tried to edit my post but cannot. Why?!?!
I would no longer recommend anyone here to go to Southampton Imported Cars. After my experience with my car there last year...never again. I only go to Motorcepts now.

Can we get added to this list? We have done 100+ subframe repairs, and we are about to release the only production turbo kit for E46 M3's using the factory ecu. We have also done work for many of the shops on this list, I'm sure they can back us up! We are also a forum sponsor.
Thanks, Mike Quote:

ASC Automotive in Atlantic Highlands, NJ.
Great guys over there that know their stuff, plus prices are AWESOME. They have all of the BMW equipment too. Takes them a while to do things (had my car 2 days to check for AC leaks and do a DME update) but they did a great job. Didn't even charge me for checking to AC and refilling the freon! http://www.ascautomotive.com/

Hey bimmer fans, I hope you're enjoying with hot summer days.
One of my friend (BMW technician) opened his auto repair shop on 193 Christie Ave. Clifton NJ. Right off of route-46 All makes and models service at reasonable prices. Specializing in BMW and Mercedes with dealer level tools. He will be open 5:30 to 9:30 pm weekdays and all day on weekends. He has a smoke machine, GT1, progman, m54, n series motors engine timing tools and all. Equipped to service BMWs. So if you need a BMW technician with a cheaper prices than dealer you may contact with him. His number is (973) 934-9153 Last edited by userno10; 07-06-2012 at 01:15 PM. |

Yea theyre legit. I recently went there and Dave is a good guy and theyre a dinan dealer. If i go to an indy shop its not some "Import Auto" or motorcepts that works on all types of german cars...i go to bmw specific shops. I've been to turner motorsports and recently Motorworks West. They are bmw specific and seem very legit. IMO i suggest never going to these sleeze ball german auto repair places and just go to BMW specific shops. Motorworks West is that. I think Redline speed in washingon nj is also similar. |

As a follow-up to my other thread...
I took my car to Bimmers Only in Bedford Hills. Graham is the owner there, very easy to work with. Did what I needed to get done, as well as found some other issues that have been plauging the car for quite some time that the dealer did not point out. Also did a once-over of the car and noticed the RTABs in the rear need to be replaced soon, but didn't get that done yet. Hourly rate is higher then dealer, but th end result was extremely reasonable for what was done to the car. I will definitely be going back here from now on, and it's a bit of a trek from Yonkers, but well worth it. -Matt |

Any recommendations in the Astoria / LIC area? I know there's tons of black car / taxi places (which are 24 hour) but I feel the need for a specialist.
I "think" my clutch is out and need to do some other preventive/maintenance (seals etc). ![]() There's a place on 31st between Newtown and Astoria Blvd, that "specializes" in MBs and BMWs but I have no experience with them. This is my first E46, and the to-do list is growing. |

Indy Shops With E46 Convertible Top Experience
Would anyone have any experience/preferences/opinions about shops that can service E46 convertible tops? I’ve had a mostly bad experience with one of the last dealer-owned shops in northwest NJ that I can use for routine maintenance and don’t want to repeat it. I’m also trying to find an independent shop within reasonable distance and would be great if they handle both both routine and convertible top work. Thanks in advance.
