I like the wavetrac feature that allows torque to be transmitted to 1 wheel if the other one has no traction at all (air/ice)

The output flanges of the M54B22 are also different part number than higher-CC E46 so it's another no-go fitting this unit

For me its the fact that the wavetrac will be forever maintenance free (besides fluid changes). You get the advantages of a clutch type differential when one wheel looses traction, but no clutches to wear out.

If I was super serious about building a racecar, I'd probably go with the OS Giken, but this should be great for street and some amatuer track days

I really love the Kaaz 1.5 way. Speedhauz has one installed in their ZHP drift car and I was thoroughly impressed.

What would be similar to the setup in the E46 M3? LS wise - not gearing.

Output flanges are extremely easy to swap. Pop off your current pig and stick in new one.

What about the input flange? Wavetrac gives 2 options which essentially is the offset of the flange, going by the VIN, realoem lists my flange as unique for this engine/diff combo (M54B22 + 3.38) which I cannot understand WHY

So, my quest continues...

What differentiates a 3.38 of a 330 from a 3.38 of a 320? Apart from the output flanges. Is the ringset different for some reason?

Wavetrac has 2 models, which are for "thicker" and "thinner" ring, <=3.07 and >=3.15 ratios

Not my pic, showing the difference between the 2 rings, solved using a spacer.

Re: Wavetrac LSD Available for E46 Non-M

Order shims is what they are called. Without them you'll get winning noise and a few broken teeth.

Whats the word? I'm going to start sourcing a 3.38 to build on. I've been eying the Quaife and Wavetrac, as well as an M3 swap. Looking forward to hear what you think of the Wavetrac

FWIW, the Wavetrac on my 335i is fantastic. I love it.

Trying to arrange some things with the payment/shipping to avoid as much import taxes as possible.

I have literally searched every possible forum, and I just didn't find the answer to my question: With 1 wheel off the ground, does it truly lock as per specs?
