Talking 9/12 ORP Lapping Day: In-car Video

Last weekend I drove down from Seattle to the relatively new Oregon Raceway Park (ORP) out in Grass Valley, Oregon. The reason for the road trip was to attend a 2-day HPDE and then Lapping Day with the Oregon Porsche Club (ORPCA). I drove down with a couple local BMWCCA PSR friends (the two E92 M3s in front of me in the video) and we had an incredible time! The track is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend making your way out their if at all possible. Below is a 15-minute video of me filming my friends' M3s and around 10-minutes I start doing some faster laps.

Enjoy (don't forget to click on the video and watch it in 720p or 1080p on youtube):

It's worth mentioning that the owners of this track plan on adding another 2 miles to ORP over the next 2-years, making it a 4.5 mile track!

Thanks you guys. The weekend out at the track an unbelievable amount of fun. The banking is actually WAY more severe than the video shows. Also, pretty much all the turns where you couldn't see any banking are actually off-camber turns which makes for a pretty wild ride with all the blind hills and turns. Its a hoot (and scary) coming up over a hill at 100MPH and having no idea whats on the other side .

Plus, it was just a lot of fun representing the E46 out on track The only other E46 for the weekend was the Imola Red M3 in the video.

I thought that's what I was seeing - ORP really keeps things interesting

Sick video. So great to see non-m's representing! There are always too many M3's out there! Hehe

Just checked your list of mods.... epic. Everything you have is perfect, and exactly the list I have created (in my head) for what I want done. Did you have a couple epic-filled weekends of modding, or did you do a lot of that over a long period of time?

Any videos of your exhaust (aside from the take-off in this thread).

Dan

WOW! That track looks like fun...lots of elevation changes, on/off camber turns, blind turns, and long straights!

I'm really surprised by the lack of trees. I would think a track in oregon would be winding through a forest with armco on both sides...kind of like Watkins Glen.

BTW...I like the driving skills!

I was using the CruiseCam mount. I borrowed it from the guy in the video driving the E90 M3.

I was using a Sony NEX-5 w/ a fixed 15mm lens. A little more pricey than the GoPro

Thanks, it was a lot of fun doing the modifications. I did it all over about the course of a year. I just swapped out the Dinan Intake for a BMW Performance one last week. And this spring when I get back out to the track I'll take off my blank rotors and replace them with one of the 4 sets of BMW Performance front rotors I bought

There are a massive lack of trees because this is on the eastern side Cascade Mountain Range in Oregon. Much like Eastern Washington, it is all pretty dry and basically a wide-open plateau; very few trees.
