What happened? I read the rant on all the cheap dynavin construction, photos, etc (I love my Dynavin BTW). What was after that?

Very briefly:

As you said, the bloke was berating the Dynavin units, some of the other dealers and was basically telling people to buy British and get a (British) one year warranty.

1. I clocked that the pics he hosted on photobucket were in a folder called "ServingBritishStandards" - struck me as slightly odd for just a disgruntled customer.
2. Googled it. The domain had expired but Google's cached version showed up as: ***************iisvt
3. Notice the direct link to Ttints...
4. A WHOIS domain name lookup brought up the following details:

Registrant:
Serving British Standards
Unit 4 Bilton Way, Bilton Court
Luton, Beds LU1 1LX
GB

Domain name: SERVINGBRITISHSTANDARDS.COM

5. Here's Ttints' homepage: www.ttints.co.uk Note the address at the bottom.

Unit 4 Bilton Way, Bilton Court Luton, England LU1 1LX United Kingdom

Tut tut tut. Then the thread was deleted by the Admin.

Professor Plum, with the wrench, in the conservatory. That is all.

Good detective work there mate. Still doesnt take away the horror of seeing the nauseating electronic innards. It appears it was a cheap tricky setup to bash the DVN?

got my wifi working tonight. I didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time on it, but should be able to browse around more tomorrow. I can definitely see the need for a keyboard and mouse.

Good work, how do you find navigating on a small screen, do you get a good connection?

honestly, didn't spend enough time with it. connection was great, or it said it was excellent at least. I only went to FB and logged in and scrolled up and down. I will get more into it tomorrow when I have time. I was using Opera. The stylus with the small onscreen keyboard is going to take time to get used to.

i figured the two Rear RCAs would work fine but nothing?
What else do you think it could be?

i took the car to BestBuy to look at it, they troubleshooted from pulling the Sub out of the box... testing the Sub... then they put it back in and worked their way down towards the Amp and tested it...and finally towards the Deck (dynavin unit) they said everything works... but that the RCA wire was no good and that they needed to change it for a new one... 50$ for the RCA wires... and 70$ for install... they told me about this... so i was like no way am i paying that kind of money to install RCA wires... so i figured out the problem... the RCA wires that were underneath my back seat somehow were disconnected... didn't know this until i pulled out my seat and saw it.... thank you to Jeff for the quick responses to try and help solve my issues... always great to see people out there who care to try and help!!

Ok so I have again caught up with this thread so I think I've read all there is to read on Jeff's threads...received my V5 from Jeff yesterday with the DVB-T digital TV tuner so can't wait to try that....

Was wondering, and don't remember seeing this anywhere...is the V5 a USB 2 host...I was wanting to just go the whole hog and put all my MP3s and some video onto a 2.5" portable USB drive (say 500GB) but wondered if the V5 can power a 2.5" drive or indeed if the WinCE side supports large drives or indeed if the WinCE side even cares...

As usual thanks Jeff for the great service (I'll let you know if the TV tuner works here in Aus)

Graeme

You may have issues using a 500GB drive since WinCE only uses the FAT32 file system which has a native hard drive size limit of 32GB - 128GB from memory.

Aha I thought there may be a catch...I'll research winCE a bit more then...so the winCE side does influence the entertainment side of the unit, I thought they were somewhat separate...anyway thanks.

Yeah I was referring to the WinCE entertainment side, not sure if the Dynavin side even supports external hard drives through USB.

Guys,

Got my V5 installed last night. I only have one issue. When the headlights are on (and any other time), none of the buttons on the Dynavin light up. The orange LEDs around the disc slot are on but that's it. I used the Fakra cable kit to install in my factory Nav. M3 vert so I did not have to do any wiring. Anyone know what I need to do?

Apparently... In your trunk/boot, you need to connect the red wire on the FAKRA harness (this is your illumination wire) to the orange switched +12v.

EDIT: Don't do this. Read Jeff's post below.

you got it backwards james, close though, cut the orange illumination wire and spice it into the red switched 12+ wire. You can do this at the trunk or the dash.... doesn't matter.

You lied to me!

"it is something specific to oem nav cars.....its very easy, you just have to tap the orange wire into the red wire on the Fakra harness."

Not to worry That's one less question I'll have to ask you.

Ok. So I cut the orange wire on the Fakra? Then attach the orange to a red on the car? Anyone got a pic or diagram of this? I guess this means the buttons will illuminate all the time, not just when the headlights are on? Seems like they could have fixed this by now.
