A question for you E46 wiring experts. Anyone know where the wiring for the OEM microphone comes out? No not on the headliner end Was wanting to use it as an external mic for the Dynavin. Not impressed with the internal mic, and I've heard the external isn't much (if any) better. Trying to get back what I had (ie great bluetooth audio).

Why not just run your own wires to the OEM mic and theres no need to find the wire end anyways. considering you will have to run wires from the dynavin to the oem mic wiring regardless since i doubt it ends behind the headunit. not sure it will be an improvement or even work, but worth a shot.

Another happy customer! I just wanted to throw out a BIG THANKS to Jeff! I got my Dynavin from Jeff at DynavinSolutions and I just finished the installation. After a few hours of trial & error with getting all the wires to fit in the dash and a call from Jeff to sort out one other minor issue, I finally succeeded! It looks and sounds great! I'm figured I better come in from the garage to spend some time with wifey so I'm sitting here on the couch with her reading the manual.

I just wanted to throw out a couple of comments about the install. I did the HVAC module relocation and ran into a couple of speed bumps I thought I would share.

1) First was the cigarette lighter socket switchover from the old to new bracket. The lighter socket was a real pain to get out. There are three plastic tabs (one small/thin and two larger) holding the socket into the plastic. I had to pry the small tab away from the socket and push the socket out of the the top. The lighter socket just snaps back into the new bracket.

2) My M3 has the row of buttons above the ashtray with a button in every space, which means it's one long piece (hence the single opening HVAC relocation kit). There are two screws holding the row of buttons in place. These screws have a very small torx head, not philips like all other screws. These were easy to get out using a small alan wrench but nearly impossible to get back into the new bracket without the proper torx driver. I stripped the screw heads and had to dig through my toolbox to find some new ones.

Finally, after I was done with the whole install, I had six screws left over. I started freaking out but retraced my steps and "think" I'm okay. Anyone else have six total screws left after doing the HVAC relocation with the Dynavin install?

I didn't mean to write a novel but I'm exited and wanted to share my newbie experience. Thanks again to Jeff and everyone else who offered their advice!

that is bizarre.....Ill check with dynavin to see if they have any ideas about what that is about.....I assume it works when you adjust it in the menu?..... There is a cooling fan and it gets louder when the unit gets warm. The lack of an ipod resume function has been discussed at length on this forum. It is just the way it is and is the dynavin's weakest point. Dynavin has said they are working to change it but I wouldnt count on it as they haven't been able to do it yet. Those of us who are heavy ipod users often find that we are happier using the ipod to aux input adapter cable to connect the ipod and controlling the ipod from the ipod itself. It isnt as flashy but it works without frustration. As far as the charging goes I would suggest you restore your ipod as there is no reason why it should charge one but not the other.

I had the same issue. Since I was having problems with the contacts, I thought this would be a great time to replace it. The new lighter socket was ~ $7 for my local dealer.
