Does the Dynavin unit plug into the car GPS receiver, or does it come with a receiver where you plug in and place it in the metal dash frame specified in the first page of this thread.

Thanks.

although you are using the new style adapter......the tricky part is that the old radios had BOTH plugs on them, one big and one small....the new style radios only have the small plug. So the question is did you use the wrong antenna plug? Perhaps you could send me a pic of the back of your sock stereo so I could see which plugs it has....

Better to reach me by email by the way....to easy for questions here to get buried...

Fitted Dynavin V5 unit today and have a couple of problems with the radio.
First I am running at Vol 4-5 with a lot of background noise. Threads from Jeff say I need LOCs. I noticed they were not in the box when I bought it but when my supplier (Jason at Euro Division in Melbourne, Australia) asked Dynavin they said I would not need them

Next problem:- when I search for stations I get a lot of 'hits' that are not stations as such and the 3 FM bands are full and we have only covered half the spectrum. Is there a way to manually load/save stations, or delete the crap ones?

There is a new firmware that has an option to reduce the headunit output to better match the OEM amps in cars so equipped. Contact Jason for this firmware and instructions on how to install and use it.

For the radio, just use the arrows to select the station and then press and hold next to the preset number to save it.

OK, Jason emailed Dynavin and they sent a new zh_mcu.bin file of 98304 bytes.

From another thread I believe I need to install as follows:-

2. Connect a USB memory stick to your PC, delete everything from USB memory stick and make sure it's formatted in FAT or FAT32.
3. Put the zh_mcu.bin file in root of USB memory stick.
4. Turn off Dynavin and connect the USB memory stick to DVD-USB cable on your Dynavin.
5. Dynavin should turn on and update should start automatically, now just wait until the system turns off (should take about one minute).

The only instructions from Dynavin via Jason were:-

((After reload the mcu,
Long press "9" on IR remote in AUX mode
choose AMP to "YES"))

Does this make sense?

Haven't tried yet but will do shortly.

Cheers

OK, relating to the saving of radio stations, yes that works fine. It is such a pity that the manual is not more helpful.

Regarding the update to reduce the headunit volume, not so helpful.
I followed the directions which were fine, but no effect on volume. I then thought I might try the Oct 2010 files to change the splash screen to BMW as well. So I did this update which 'took' (I do like the BMW screen) but still no change in Radio volume. Finally I uploaded the zh_mcu.bin that I got from Jason again. Still no change in radio volume.

I am wondering if I truly have the latest version
Jeff, could you check the size of the latest ... the one I have is 98,304 bytes.
I am suspecting I might have been sent an older version.

Now having spent most of the day with the door open, angel eyes on, testing this and testing that ... battery flat! So charger is connected for an hour or two! Probably lose all my radio station settings and GPS routes I have set up! Oh well, SWMBO is really happy as the Bluetooth is working well which was how I managed to convince her she needed the Dynavin for safely using her mobile phone 'handsfree'. Also my gift to her for this Sunday, Mother's Day here in Oz!!!

Did you change the amp setting in the factory settings menu? Just installing the firmare wont do it, you have to change the amp setting as well.

Jeff, I hope you don't mind me answering this one.

When you're in that secret menu using long press 9, change the "AMP" from (I think) "Yes" to "No" or the other way around. That will bump up or down the volume from the head unit pre-amp. This is not the most intuitive setting, but this is how it works. You will most likely still get some hissing in the speakers at 0 volume, but at least the gain linearity is adjusted.

Yes, I followed the directions given me to use the IR remote, go into AUX and hold down "9" to go into the service? menu. At the bottom was "AMP" which I changed from "No" to "Yes".

Will do a drive around and see how it feels. At rest 4-5 is quite loud enough - maybe when driving a suitable higher level will be needed.

As "fadeaway" says, it could be from "Yes" to "No" so I will try both.

Cheers to all.

So I'm trying to upgrade to iGO8.3 and I keep getting the following message: "Failed to load ui_igo8/800_480/loading.bmp" "Application will now exit" I've very computer literate and this is driving me absolutely crazy. I've obviously replaced the appropriate .bmp files in both branding.zip and data.zip, I'm thinking something is not right in my sys.txt configuration. Could somebody who is running 8.3 show me what their sys.txt looks like? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks.

I tried deleting the contents of SAVE folder also, same thing happens.

Clip from my sys.txt (I have a folder named iGO8 on the root of my SD card, all the stuff is in there):
