25117527259 works on M3 only; you need Part #25110430356 for a ZHP,

The shifter out of the z3 I think was the shortest BMW made available. It is cheaper than their performance once and I think better. There are a few threads on it.

The only reason I am really asking is because I can get a brand new (#25110430356) for 80 bucks. But I dont want to put something that sucks in my car. Thanks again, Drew.

I have been running the E46 OEM bmw short shifter plus a UUC DSSR and 0.5 kg gear stick for a couple of years now. This combination was a HUGE improvement on my 6 speed. Changing gear turned from a chore to a joy.

I have thought about adding the DSSR to my kit. I just dont know if its worth the ~130 price tag.

I have mine, but haven't got it installed yet. I hope its a big difference over my stock. (I wish I knew the part number to my stock one)

Since you have a ZHP one, I don't think it will be a greater difference than mine, being a regular ZSP 6 speed with ZHP knob.

I'm looking forward to this, but sorta nervous. I don't like super short throws. They make me insecure. I guess I just have to get used to it.

Yeah. I would really like to know a dealers price on the install. I have a quote from a tuner place locally of 100. He said he could do it pretty quickly. I thought you needed to take the exhaust, etc out. But some people say you can do it from inside the car. I just want to know if this is unsafe/bad for the car.

    Not at all.

You can do it from the inside, but it's a little harder and takes a bit more patience. I'm not sure which method I'm going to use yet.

Ok just making sure. I don't think I have the skill/balls to do it myself. So I am going to let the guys at In Tune here locally install it. Thanks for the help. I will let you know how it goes. I think I may see if he can do it tomorrow.

Trust me, you both can change out the shifter without much knowledge of your car. I did with no problems. There is, however, a clip that needs to be taken off that some people refer to as the "bitch clip." Once I got over that hurdle it was smooth sailing. I installed my UUC Evo3 without much difficulty. You can probably use the directions that are downloadable off of UUC's website to apply to a BMW shifter as well, as most parts are similar. You just definitely need ramps and or jack/jackstands to be able to fit underneath the vehicle. I felt so accomplished after installing it. First time underneath my car and I didnt F it up!
