No one goes custom? Everyone goes for the BSW?

I went totally custom. The only stock audio in my car is the speaker wires from the doors to the rear amp. BSW is great but way over price IMO. But there wiring diagrams helped quite a bit. Thank u BSW sorry i could not afford you equipment.

For the OP:

I would venture to say, most go custom, vs bsw.

If I were to buy new amps, I would look at the Alpine PDX series or other that accepts balanced differential inputs. This would allow you to bypass the OEM amp without needing to add an LOC before the amp.

Brand, power, etc. are all subjective and all depend on your needs, budget, and personal taste. There are threads on e46fanatics that have a partial list of these types of amps. Just double-check for yourself before buying!

All of that costs less than BSW? Nice car audio setup you got there!

If you want to keep all of your trunk space and have better sound, you can do something like I have. I know...I could've made it cleaner, but you can't even see the setup unless you bend down to look, because of where the vert top is stored. I'm running MB Quartz components up front with the XM-4S(I still have 2 channels open) and a Kicker with the XM-1S. BTW...no cutting or holes were made anywhere. Amps held up by heavy duty velcro for 3+ years.

Yes, I bought the Nav unit used from Jeff@Dynavinsolutions and the Components from a member here also. The kicker amp is almost 10 years old so i think i saved some money and it sounds great one of my best set ups as far as SQ is concerned. Its real loud and with the top down people just give my dirty looks. But it don't hit like the 4 12' i had in my grand Cherokee
I think the BSW ski pass subwoffer set up is like $700.

The shop i went to originally mounted them too the back of front of the trunk compartment. It was a mess what the shop did to me anyway. DIY. If i wanted to do it right and keep my trunk space. I was worried about the amps over heating but so far it has not been a problem. Ill add a fan if i have to. If I get a flat it would be a pain but i could pull that all out in no time.
Here's my thread about my first install

Im currently looking at the full DLS componet set, i think it will be the best for the money ~600 without an amp. Heres my question...

If i swap out the speakers will I need to change the wire or can I use the HK wire?

Also
what amp will work with the stock head unit?
I was looking at these two:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewitem_c.php?id=21951
or
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...o+PA500.4.html

i read above about a line out converter (LOC)? will i need to do that with these amps?

The HK wire is thick enough. I'm currently using it for my components. You will need a LOC to hook up the amp to the factory HU.

The kicker has differential inputs, that's what I need right? If I get that one then I don't need a LOC do I?
