SIR-ALP1 Antenna upgrade?

I am running an Intravee II with KCA-420i and SIR-ALP1 attached to it and have always had shoddy satellite reception. Several conversations with Sir/XM techs led me to order a second radio despite my suspicion that it was the antenna. After I moved the antenna itself all over including on top of the trunk and nothing changed, I finally bought their explanation and ordered another unit and switched the subscription over.

Nothing at all changed.

It still cuts out frequently, often giving me the track data but no sound, and basically just seems like it's getting a super weak signal in the exact same places it used to, if not more. Around my house it's great but I can be in the middle of nowhere on a cloudless day and still it'll cut out in the exact same places.

So I think it's the antenna. Or if not that, it's the connection between the antenna and the unit itself.

Does anyone know what that connection is called (IE like how two analog devices would be connected via RCA cables) and is there a better antenna with the same connection or an amplifier I could install inline?

I'm sick of paying for a subscription to something that doesn't work well enough for me to enjoy. Worse, I'm sick of having to listen to FM radio in Miami, where everything is goddamn Pitbull.
Perhaps you think multi-million dollar ad campaigns make a beer taste better. Perhaps you're mouthing your words as you read this.
