Overpayed!? That guy works his ass off like you don't even know, and take it from me.
1) He joined Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr, and Sammy Sosa as the only hitters in baseball history to have four straight 40 homer/130 RBI seasons 2) the fastest player to hit 200 homeruns for a career 3) Howard has led the National League in RBI in three of the last four seasons and the only reason he didn't lead the league in 2007 was because Matt Holliday won the RBI crown in a season-ending tiebreaker game with San Diego. (1 game playoff) so mark texiera got payed 22mil this year with a 256ba and 33 dingers 108 rbi's with 158gp and 601AB's Ryan howard is getting payed 25 mil this year with 276ba. 31dingers 108rbi's 550AB's... oh and btw chase utly, jimmy rollins, victorino and ryan howard himself all missed a good amount of time. but inconclusion if Mark texeria is making 22mil why shouldn't howard when he has better numbers? |

tex is also one of the best defensive 1st basemen, if not the best...they might be overpaid, but you can't just compared one side of the stats.
tex had 3 errors, howard had 14...

my point is the yankees set these "standards" and its everyone elses job to compete cause if the phillies didn't offer him 25mil. someone else would.. and the same thing is going to happen with puljos... thus why the cardinals exercised his option for only 16 mil so they could have him before they can't afford him anymore. Ill be honest were not going to be able to afford jayson werth hes gonna want around 20 mil too |

im thinking if the rangers play the yankees for the alcs it will be the biggest differential in payroll of any teams to play in postseason history....just a thought, someone might have to check that. Quote:

Teams with the highest payrolls make the postseason more often than not, if you don't believe that, you must be a Yankee fan.
GO PHIGHTIN'S!!!!!!!!
