Where to stay in Chicago?

Hey Fanatics, I'll be visiting Chicago in a couple of weeks and was wondering where I should I stay. I'm looking for a nice area slightly west of the city (prefer not to be in the city, but want to be close). Any hotel/area recommendations?

Thanks guys!

SOHO. It's new, affordable and just west of the downtown area. You won't be disappointed.

Honestly every time I'm in Chicago I use hotwire. Stay 3.5 stars and up and I've gotten away with some really great hotels...

I used hotwire and ended up at McCormick place in southern chicago and hotel was amazing. Parking was a bit high but mostly covered garage with security so that was nice.
