Annoying droning noise from my AC unit

Hey folks has does anyones car have a really annoying droning sound when they turn their AC on? im thinking i might want to change out my AC unit to see if this helps. If anyone has experienced this in their cars and have fixed this what have you done to correct this? Thanks guys

Before you decide to replace the compressor, I'd install a new belt, make sure the compressor and mount are tight and make sure the tensioner pulley turns smoothly. Other than that, next thing would be the compressor. Since AC compressors are expensive, I'd go the cheap route (what I explained above) and then see what happens. Compressors do wear and do start to make more noise as they get older.
