Which beater to buy?

Need some help/advice fanatics?!?!

Im looking to buy a beater when I return home next month. I by no means have the budget of some of the "ballers" on this site, so please keep that in mind. Im looking at 3 different vehicles, and was wondering your thoughts/ personal experience and what not with any/all of them. Im looking for the vehicle to be 4X4, pretty cheap to repair/maintain, and safe to haul my son around. The 3 vehicles Im looking at are a 1992-2000 Jeep Cherokee, Toyota 4 Runner, or Nissan Pathfinder. My budget is no more than $2500. Thanks for the help!

Swich i will be honest i have nothing but good things to say about jeeps. I loved my grand cherokee and it still runs to this day via my little brother with 200k miles original motor and transmission, and was a really sentimental car to me. they are just built to last and are cheap and easy to work on. that being said my vote will definitely be for a 1998+ cherokee. i have never liked japanese cars.

personal experience no, but my aunt had a 91 corrola and that thing gave her 275xxx, my buddies have had other toyotas and they beat the living **** out of anything they get behind the wheel of and never have problems. in all honestly, when i can afford to have a nice car and a DD, the first thing im getting is a toyota.

The Jeep Cherokee I drove all of last year has been one of the most solid and amazing vehicles Ive driven. It is rolling proof Americans make amazing cars and I plan on owning one as long as they are still on the road. I would recommend that truck to anyone, there was never a task it wasn't up to and except for the radio dying on me it has never once had a problem. One of my favorite vehicles of any kind of all time.

I'd rule the Nissan out personally. This leaves a tough choice between the Jeep and Toyota but again, personally, I'd go Toyota.
