BMW Performance CAI

I just confirmed with Jason at Tischer that the BMW Performance air intake on special for $315 fits the xi's as well. So I ordered mine.

Looks Good:


Delivers: The dyno test by a member got better than the 3 HP promised by BMW. He dyno'd a gain of 6.5 hp and 1.3 tq over the stock airbox. I like how BMW underpromises and overdelivers

What does AWD have anything to do with the intake/engine? Of course it'll fit lol, you didn't have to ask. If you have an m54b25/b30 it'll work even if your car is pink... oh and there's cheaper places than Tischer for it btw.

2 reasons to confirm: 1) Fitment issues due to all the AWD components 2) Most of the on-line order pages show only 325i and 330i. It's expensive to return items from Canada, so I check if I have any doubts. But yeah fits the xi!

Have fun buying $53 filters and paying for shipping to Canada twice a year.

I guess it didn't hurt to confirm, I just didn't think it deserved it's own thread lol, especially when there's a 30+page discussion on it in the main section; well congrats anyways you'll enjoy it.

On the $53 filters .. that's classic marketing. BMW is selling the CAI probably at a loss, but more than making it up selling the filters. Sales over 5 years: $315 plus $530 for filters is = $845. The razor blade business model. haha.
I'm going to follow the posts to see the filter replacement finds. I heard this CAI has Mahle markings on it so Mahle filters might be a better source for Canada. Edmonton run a lot of heavy equipment for the tar sands so it surprises me sometimes what I source for pulleys, filters, etc.

It indeed is manufactured by Mahle... but twice a year is definitely not necessary.

In general, XI's have tons of random XI-specific parts, so asking this question is never stupid, in my opinion. In order to make space for the front axles, BMW rearranged a bunch of different parts.

The best way to figure out if a part is xi specific: open two browsers and pull up realoem.com on both. Put in the VIN# for for your xi in one browser, and in the other put in the details of your car, but instead of 325xi, select 325i or 330i. Then search for the specific part in each browser and compare part numbers.

I shouldn't need to explain this people. Use your head. And stop being lazy. Do your own research so you can bring something to the table.
