Not sure a shotgun is the weapon of choice when someone snatches your kid, but nevertheless, props to the mom! Should have shot him anyway.

Maybe she didn't have a clear shot, but yea, would've liked to hear about him bleeding out.

Constatine would of thrown his dildo at the kidnapper and proceed to cry in his closet after said kidnapper escaped.

Depends on distance and what shell load is chambered (slug, shot, etc).
If my kid is allowed to be taken from the scene, the chance of ever seeing her again goes dramatically down

Not that I would even remotely care about "laws" in that situation, deadly force is allowed to prevent a kidnapping. I'd take the shot either at the perp or tires

I had a mental conflict about this. There's no doubting a shotgun is the ultimate home defense weapon, and I eagerly await the day I grab a Saiga-12, but if you've got kids it seems there's too much scatter in the shots, and a slug would defeat the purpose.

Have you ever shot a shotgun? The spread at self defense distances (5-7 yards) is so close, shots can act very much like a slug.

It's doesn't "spray" like the movies

Only skeet shooting with birdshot, didn't give me much of a sense for the spread of the BB's, I just assumed my moving aim isn't good enough and it must've been the spread on the shot.

Shot type, length of barrel, choke, etc all can influence.
