Im not even looking to do anything crazy to it... I just want it in a decent running condition that I can roll around in and use as a daily.

damn it, as I continue my search... what makes people believe that they can charge 5k for a 20+ year old e30..
about ten years ago, my dad and I bought a 1980 320i for 700 and it was in great quality and ran really well... wtf is up with today's prices...
I wish we didnt sell the 320i. *sigh*

it's supply and demand. good condition e30s are becoming more and more rare, and the number of enthusiasts who looking for these cars are growing by the day. i'd pay $5K for 1 if i can find 1 with relatively low miles, in great condition, and well maintained.

Yep. I paid 3.5k for my tech2 two years back. I've spent a little over 4k and I'm getting offers between 10 and 12 at least once every couple of months. I have no intentions of selling it but I am stocking up on spares as they're getting more and more in demand. Evo m3's are chasing between 35-50k here now so I see the tech2 as the next best thing. Mark my words, these cars are just going to get more and more pricey in a very short amount of time. Rear wheel drive and 350hp with a good turbo on a stock 325 for under 10gs is a wicked bargain IMO.

you'll understand when u do get a chance to own an nice e30, and some random person walking up to you while getting out of the car offering you 4k for it... only to think in your head "is this guy serious?" then you'll spend the next sleepless night thinking about getting a nice security system with starter kill...

personally, i think they are overrated. for the price of a good condition e30 non M, i'd rather get an e36 m3.

Some people are too funny....lol. E30>E36 in every which way. I would choose an E30 over an E46 anyday but I already have both.....

e30s are great. And they will hold their value. build a nice one know, and you will be able to sell it later for more I would think so.

only M3 I've ever seen sell that low was a totalled parts car

I've got an E30 as my track rat, it's a 318i with the M10 engine and no interior, probably has under 100 hp to the rear wheels but it's so much fun tossing it around the cones
