Head Gasket Repair?

Are there any threads on how to perform and what tools are needed?

this is the professional DIY for doing the vanos. this will show you how to remove the Valve cover and vanos in a sensibly pictoral way. As far as removing the head itself thats a bit more work. are you sure you blew the head gasket and not the valve gasket?

How many hours to replace head gasket. A shop is quote 18.5hrs @ $58 plus but stated that if head needed repair it would cost $500 including valve/ring work. I stated that I would provide the parts for gasket set and head itself since he wanted to charge me list and he agreed.
What do u think about the 18.5 hours?

Please note: i asked and confirmed that a wells racing machine shop would resurface the head for $40 so... I believe it possible that assuming the head just need be resurfaced i could get out fairly good.I'm hoping for the best...
What are the odds that It won't need valve/ring work?.. or does this all depend on the length of time I ran it hot. Please advise
