It's Official--- I'm doing the 2014 Dustball Rally

Yup. Thats right.

Beginning of August 2014. Austin, TX to Chicago, IL.

I submitted my vehicle for approval this morning and just recently heard back that it was approved. At this point i'm looking around for potential sponsors for my team. As of now, i've raised $600 of the $1600 entry fee. Sponsors thus far include a design firm from Chicago, a friends grill/restaurant in the Chicagoland area, as well as a lawyer from CHicago too.

Prior to this, i'll be having my entire car PlastiDipped to resemble the Falken Tire Porsche RSR livery (teal/green fade into blue). I'll have the ONLY Mk5 Volkswagen in the country that will have a scheme like that

The search will continue until i can raise enough funds for this. Talking with the Dustball Rally they told me that some teams have even raised enough money via outside sponsors to not only cover the entry fee, but to cover their food and gas costs too.

I'll update this as the rally gets closer

Dustball Rally is open to all makes, models and years of vehicles. However, preference of acceptance will be given to High-performance, Sports, Unique & Exotic automobiles. We are in search of a diverse collection of high-end vehicles. Space is limited, and there is no guarantee with respect to available spots, but the more amazing, eccentric or unique the vehicle, the better the chance of acceptance into the Dustball Rally.
No sir! Clearly states the application process is rigorous and not for the faint of heart.

Good luck OP

So they accept any car, and then they 'rally' through the most boring part of the country possible? Got it!

I'm just busting your balls. It'll be fun, I've done my fair share of cross country treks -- never a "rally" as just didn't have the interest -- but it's exciting to see drive across new parts of the US.

Nebraska holds the crown for worst state to drive through, and I've been through a lot.

If there is a worse state to drive through than VA, this country really does suck.

I think Pennsylvania is the worst to drive through. It never ends and lasts forever. Everything else is pretty cool to me

Cheyenne, WY to Omaha, NE: Turn left onto I80. Drive straight for 500 miles, your destination will be ahead of you on the right.

Try that three times and let me know how you feel.

Only driven I80 once, and that was from Chicago to San Fran. The only boring part of that drive for me was Chicago to western nebraska. Once i was in western nebraska it was an awesome drive being able to watch the terrain change as i got closer to the rockies.
