Hi Jeff,
I've got OEM Bluetooth in my 04 325i Sport, so I've got a Mic built in and all of the gubbins, I want to install the Dynavin but I want to see really what will happen to the OEM side of the Bluetooth? Also, say if I had a USB stick and it had like a xvid or RMVB file on it, would I be able to play it through the system? Any information appreciated. Last edited by MLAM; 11-26-2010 at 07:58 PM. |

OEM Bluetooth is lost when the dynavin's installed.
Not sure about video formats. Xvid would be handy... never heard of RMVB?? |

^^^ This is correct.....Im no expert on the particular formats, I know that messing around with it, the dynavin has played most of the videos I have tried off a USB.

Thanks for the info @thejames,
Would there be any conflict with the OEM Bluetooth and the Dynavin unit when the car is powered? if the OEM is still getting power then it's going to connect to my phone first unless I delete the pairing of course. RMVB format is Real Media Variable Bitrate, it's rare for US or UK show encoders to use it, however very popular with the Asian market as the quality is amazingly good even at small file sizes. |

If there is a conflict, I've never seen it reported anywhere else. If there is a conflict, like you said, it's easily remedied.
I don't think it works because the ULF will no longer be connected to the HU and thus, the speakers. I'd also imagine that there's some kind of remote switch on for the BT that will no longer be received.... Kinda guessing here though! Either way, it won't be a problem. I should have mine installed within the next three weeks ( ) so I can let you know if it even still picks up the ULF when scanning.(I have factory Nav, H/K & BT) |

MLAM: This is from the User manual:
Support audio type MP3/PCM/WMA Support video type ASF/AVI/WMV/DIVX You may find that with petrut's WinCE hack, there's a media player you can install that will recognise those formats?? The manual can be downloaded from here: http://www.dynavin.com/download/manual.php |

you will want to delete your pairing with the OEM bluetooth and/or unplug it as it may cause your phone to try to connect to the system that is no longer operable.

I got my Dynavin yesterday and installed it today. I have a few issues:
1) the touch screen doesn't respond well at all to what I'm pointing at. 2) when switching to navi mode, the front speakers go out - it varies from 1 second up to 4 seconds. It also happens anytime I touch anywhere on the screen in navi mode. 3) can't use most of the navi functions but that could be related to issue #1 4) most of the time when playing a CD, I can't control the volume or change the tracks with the steering wheel. I've only been successful once. 5) not a big deal but the radio volume is way louder than the CD volume even though they're set at the same number. I took a video with my iPhone to show some of what I have listed but it was too cold out. I'll try again in the garage tomorrow. I'm open to suggestions but the touch screen, volume and navi issues have me really irate ! I'll be listing this in a few Dynavin threads to get the help I need - please don't flame me for that. |

i have noticed the ipod interface on the dynavin is pretty decent. However there is one big flaw. You can not search through songs my letter. you can only have this number pad show up and then guess what number the song is on your ipod, which is very impractical. Anyone know of an update or something that can make it so that there will be a keyboard that shows up so you can search songs by name? thanks in advance

USB Questions....
Ok, I've been reading for about 8 hours on this subject of the USB's. I've also seen some not so friendly replies about people asking with people saying it's been covered many times. Yes...it has, but the information isn't consistent. Even in a couple FAQ's the information is contradicts itself on which side they connect to and which USB is used for which purposes.
I've gathered that the USB labeled GPS is connected to the WIN CE side of things. I'm guessing you use it for MP3 playing and movie files playable through windows media. So that leaves the USB labeled DVD is for firmware updates? I've also seen others post it can be used for MP3's also, but that don't make no sense, which way is it? Also the one on the front. Is it a GPS USB or is it DVD USB? Is it a second USB connected to one of those or is it the same USB port simply put on the front in mini form meaning you can't plug something into it if something is plugged in in the back. I'm just looking for a simple list of what each does, and how the one on the front applies. I think I'm getting more confused on the different names people are calling them rather than the names listed on the cables itself when people try to explain what they do. I've got a DVD USB and a GPS USB and one on the front...let's go from there .The reason I ask is I have one flush mount extension I purchased, and I'll get a simple short extension for the glove box. Knowing what they both do will help me decide when I install a little later or tomorrow where I plug each of them up...Thanks! |

The reason that you are confused is because BOTH can be used for media.....as you have gathered, the dynavin has 2 halves, a Radio/DVD half and a windows/GPS half. Each one has a corresponding USB plug.
Understand that the Windows boards intended function is to run the GPS system.....it just so happens that you can do more with it if you dig around a little bit and are handy with computers. The Radio/DVD boards intended function is to play media. The mini plug on the front is internally connected to this USB plug as well....so they are essentially the same input. Here is how you should start, hook the flush mount USB up to the DVD USB and hook up your other extension that is in the glovebox to the GPS USB. Then plug your USB flash drive into the flush mount plug to play music etc.... If you start getting into the windows hack/wifi/player skins/etc... you will use the GPS USB..

I got a different after market nav for xmas and I am thinking of selling it. And buying a dynavin But had a question about the dynavin. First off the the car is a 2002 330xi with hk and factory nav. Does the dynavin work with the clock that is in the gauge cluster. The one I got will not and it bugs me I can't adjust the clock. I know I might be petty but it should sync with the radio clock. Has anyone got any info on this. Thanks

no clocks dont sync. But sync it manually and dont worry about it until you reset the dynavin or unplug the car battery. why cant you adjust the clock in the cluster using the knob on the cluster itself ?
