What moves you to try a new brand of VODKA?

Hi everyone, I am hoping you guys can help me out with my research for a marketing class I am in. I am writing a paper on consumer behavior in purchasing vodka. What I wanted to ask everyone is this:

When you come to the store and see a new brand of vodka that you are not familiar with, what are the deciding factors in your decision to buy a bottle of vodka you are not familiar with for the first time?

1. Low Price
2. Medium Price
3. High Price

4. Bottle Design

5. Perceived quality of the product based on the design of the bottle and the message from the manufacturer

6. Country of origin

7. The number of times the product was distilled

8. Underlying base of the vodka (grain, potatoes, grapes, etc.)

I hope I can get as many answers as possible, so please do leave one for me.

I'll usually ask the guy that works there what the deal is with that vodka. Usually if it is something new, it will be in some sort of display, and usually at a slightly lower price than what it would normally retail at.

the country of origin is most important....I start off looking for polish vodka since that is where vodka was first made. Then I will look at Russian and other eastern european vodkas.

The underlying base and price by far.. I don't drink vodka anymore, but that used to be my criteria. I strongly dislike potato vodka.

I buy polish and russian vodka first, after that I look for number of distillations and a cool looking bottle.

I go for a bottle design, that tells me how strong the manufacturer is, read what they have to say about their traditions, how long they've been in business, and so on. Then I can stretch myself for a 0.75 bottle for $25-30, but not more.
I like russian and Goose vodkas. Polish and Ukranian vodkas are too heavy and make you drunk quickly, which ruins the night. Russian and Belarus vodkas get you drunk to a nice elevated state of mind and keep you there. + No morning sickness.

I remember reading a while back about putting cheap vodka (Country Club, Congress, etc.) through a Brita filter to vastly improve it's taste (and vastly decrease ones hangover). We just got a Brita and the wheels of curiosity are turning, lol.
