DSC question for a 2000 328i

Alright i have read all over about holding the DSC button for 3+ seconds until the DSC plus the orange brake light comes on to fully disable the system.

I have tried this but i do not get the brake light to come on. Wondering if this might have been an update they put in the 2001+ e46's or if i'm stupid and just doing something wrong.

Here's how i have tried it:
Come to a stop. Place foot on brake petal and hold DSC button for 5+ seconds. Orange DSC light comes on but no brake light.
Come to a stop. Leave foot off brake hold button. Same DSC light comes on with no brake light.
Come to a stop. Hold clutch and brake down. DSC light but no brake light illuminates.

And before i get all the questions... YES its DSC not ASC.

Thank you for any input.

Hold the DSC for 12 seconds. It'll be totally disengaged; brake light won't come on... you won't be able to re-engage the DSC until you turn the car off/back on again.

^correct.

However, I haven't been able to notice a difference between hitting it once and fully disabling it I know that on the 01+ cars, it definitely interferes when the button is just pressed once.

Sounds great I hope it has a noticeable difference. I'm going to give it a try tonight.
