Show me some highway information setups

my friend has all the toys in his M
LI, CB, scanner, (3) GPS systems, and i believe he has a mobile hot spot for laptop.

I had testing originally done a long time ago, and it worked great, not an issue or ticket with laser ever with them in my car.

recently over the summer they made several trips and they saved me a lot.

my old m20 that was previously in this car saved me in the 32.000 miles i put on my car this year, over 14 times.

any info that really sold you on the LI's ?? I'm always open to trying new and potentially better things.

You can't update your blinders now and there ARE new guns that are being used. One hit with those and you are toast. The LI's have multiple updates keeping them ahead of the game and the new 8.9 heads have stronger 115 watt german diodes. Take my word, I spent six years into this hobby.

Just got this cheap cobra radar.. Works well though!

No it does not and it is horribly mounted. Sell it and get a V1 or a Redline.

Schweet. That picture reminds me I need to get my ham plate. I'm thinking after I pass Extra and get a shorter callsign though. I just finished installing my Kenwood TM-V71A + RC-D710 APRS head in my E39. Radio is in the trunk of course, head and mic mounted on the dash, speaker behind the center counsel. I've got a GRE PSR-800 digital scanner to put in too, but I need a scanner antenna first. CB will come soon enough as well, just need to figure out where I'm putting it. I wish someone made a good CB with a relocatable head...

Jake, i've been reading a lot on the LI I'll try em. I'm going to start out with the front only setup. my main thing is being able to expand the setup in the rear, if i can just add on other heads.

What's your advice on antenna and mount for the 520? and a little bit more on advice on scanners? I'm setting my budget around 500 for a scanner. if that helps, and digital i'd like.

A single LI CPU will drive 4 heads, so you can easily expand later from a dual setup.
For a scanner, $500 will buy you a GRE PSR-800, which is a digital scanner that at the moment is also the only scanner capable of decoding P25 phase II/2 slot TDMA.

As stated, the CPU will take 4 heads. Trust me, you will love the LI's. The sheer power.


For the CB do you want a magnetic mount antenna or one that is fixed to a part of the car.
