Last winter I got caught in a snow storm with my summer tired, it couldn't for nothing then I thru a set of blizzaks on and it handled like a dream. I even tried to make the car slide and it wouldn't neither.

Here are pictures of the tires. I got them for almost nothing ($100 for all 4) so they're obviously used. Car guy I know says they've got at least enough for this winter so it looks like I'm good.

I experiences with E46XI from 2005 with new winter tire ( Michelin ). In some case, when on steep rise parking ram, snow + semi-icy, only me went thru, safe,. SUV like RX330, RV4, Pilot left out. I'm careful , oldy driver, not racer. ( But do you take the " winter -advance driving course ? ).
Doesn't matter how 4x4 or 10x10 car with winter tire or tank w/ chain you drive, driver make accident , not car, so do not blame her. I know young drivers ( My son is one of them, I forced him took (& paid himself ) advance & winter driving course )
I experience with X5 too, also winter tire, so I know they are good ( if don't want to say the best, the best is new generation X5 & XI 2010 >newer ).
The problem may be 330Xi too powerful (& heavy too, it make big sway momentum when you turn) compare to other "*** girl", with big torque, in snow, you crazy step on gas, or fast steer , you end up in " Christmas sign" ( there are 2 places with cross : hospital or R.I.P )

Just my thought, " old timer"
