m3 mirror install help.

Hey guys,

I am trying to install M3 mirrors from a 2003 M3 into a 2000 323Ci. I see 9 wires and was told that the 2k only has 6. Is this correct? These didn't come with the switch so I need to cut and rewire.

Thanks!

Daniel Nguyen

and yes I did search.

I did just that. The problem is that my old mirrors had one extra black wire than the M3 mirrors and now my memory on the right side does not work and when I put the car in reverse it tilts up but never goes down.

showoffcafe, I think you have the install pretty much like the one in the DIY section of this site. Its pretty well documented that you loose memory function as well as backup tilt function because of the different wiring. Otherwise you would need to change the harness inside your car to 2002 wiring harness.

Its wierd though. The memory works on my left side mirror and the tilt worked on the right it just never comes back up.

How hard is it for you to swap out the old motor and wiring harness to put it into a m3 mirror? Would you have to get a new glass piece?? Help!
