Just shot Ruger SR40c and Remington R51

Ruger: Piece of garbage. Liked the "loaded barrel indicator" on the slide. Felt light enough. Horrifically loud. Horrible trigger. One failure to eject/feed. Felt like someone poured sand all over the damn trigger. Everything about the gun just felt "cheap".

Remington R51: Cheap feeling. Very accurate. Very little recoil (9mm admittingly). Magazine didn't seat the best. It reminded me a lot of a PPK. Good grip. Crisp trigger. I was very surprised coming from Remington. Also, quite slim. Felt like a 1" wide at max.

Never shot a Ruger handgun that I liked. Ever.
Their rifles are good stuff, but everything else...not so much.

The Remington R51 is getting a lot of complaints. Very poor quality.

I think the biggest issue is cost control which means lack of quality machining. The gun retails in the lower $400's. If the gun retailed for $200 more, how much better could it be? How much more headroom would there be for better machining?

I'm sitting here in a Remington 870 armorer course. It's amazing how many corners they openly admit that they cut on commercial firearms. A lot of MIM components and lower power springs and whatnot. It's very obvious that Remington had multiple tiers of quality, which is bullslt.
