Gun Cleaning Kits?

Lent my friend my cleaning kit, he ****ing lost it during a move so I need a new one. I had a simple Hoppe's kit but wondering if there's something better.
Would be using for handguns and shotgun.

Was looking at Otis or Hoppe's again. I use Slip 2000 product for cleaning and lubrication.

I built my own kit with bits and pieces of smaller kits. I got the case at harbor freight. Cloths wipes, ear plugs, batteries, lights, bandana(clean work area, not gangster) a universal brush kit, couple bore snakes, lube, and Specialty tools for my AR, HG, SG Click image for larger version

You can see my brush rods fit atop the dividers and still allow the case to shut. Also my armors wrench fits in between the dividers next to my lube.

There's not a single gun in my collection that I can't clean with this kit. Cost me about 35 bucks plus the occasional lube. The cloth wipes and bandana are washable. The kit fits nicely at the bottom of my range bag so it goes with me every time.

Ear plugs? Why do you feel the need to bring your gun cleaning supplies with you to the range?

Same here. The only deep cleaning that I do on my ARs are typically after a two day class. Even then, it's easy. I pop the BCG in the sonic cleaner for a few minutes then relube and it's done. While it's in the sonic cleaner, I spray out the upper receiver with brake cleaner, then a few passes with the boresnake down the barrel, and I'm done done.

Pistols are even easier.

I need to take down my Remington 870 and give it a thorough cleaning, had a couple of shells get jammed up when ejecting at the range.

What sonic cleaner do you have? Been thinking of getting one actually...

Dang. That must have been a seriously dirty gun.

EDIT: or you might have a bent/worn-out extractor. Sometimes they won't grab the shell properly when you pump the slide.

I use this one from Hornady, with a 50/50 mixture of Simple Green HD and water.

Typically, when I go to the range, I bring a few friends or family. It's nice to have spare ear protection for those that don't bring some or whatever.

We usually spend the entire day at the range, so it's nice to have my tools with me for whatever might happen. Since everything is all in one case, I just bring it all, instead of pulling bits and pieces out then hoping that they end up back in the case at the end of the day. It also takes up no room and it's light. I don't feel the need to have it, it's just nice having it all just In case.

Do you go to SE MN Sportsman's Club, or somewhere else?

I have a member ship there but I don't go there as often as I used to. We have a small private range near Simpson. Why do you ask?

I used to be a member there. Most of my family is from Rochester and works for Mayo. I heard that SE MN did some improvements to the range, but I haven't been there in years.

Tons of improvements in the past two years. They just raised the membership fee this year to fund a $150,000 baffle system and other improvements.

Coyote creek is also clearing all that land behind them and demoing the house next door. Rumor is, the range they've been talking about forever is finally happening. I'll be getting a membership there ASA that happens.

I bought the pieces separately and assembled/maintain my own cleaning kit.

-M-Pro 7 / Ballistol to clean.
-Wilson Combat lubricants for the bore and slide.

Typically do a strip and clean every 500 rounds or so.
