Yet another reason to never, ever, ever vote for a Democrat. This is the kind of stuff that happens in blue states. I live down the street from this guy, and looked into NJ gun laws before deciding it's not worth even trying to be a gun owner in this state.

i'm fairly certain that the judge was very, very wrong... and so was the officer that arrested him. i've called the NJ state police to make absolutely sure it was legal to transport a rifle (unloaded, locked in a case, AND locked in the trunk) to and from my parent's house in NJ. i spoke directly to the firearms unit and they assured me that yes, it was legal.

unless the state police firearms unit gave me wrong information (not likely), or the laws are different for handguns (possible), this is very messed up.

i ended up never bringing a rifle to NJ anyway, but that is what i was told.

p.s. - article says that the judge has already lost his job for his rulings in unrelated cases.
