I guess a lot of you have forgotten the thrill of getting your first BMW. Lots of people go to the net wanting to share their excitement with others who also have a BMW. And what do some of these new people get? "Search first stupid. Can't you read? Don't ask dumb questions. It's been posted a million times, et all" Really a great way to squelch someone's excitement and enthusiasm. So what if it's been discussed before? Don't read it and waste your valuable time if you don't care about the subject. Remember...you were a new owner once yourself. And, btw, I don't post a lot but have been a member since before I got my brand new 330 Ci so i believe I am an "elder" too.

That post brought to you by the typical snot nosed d-bags found 'lurking' waiting to mug us new members of our enthusiasm.

Personally, I could care less that you researched on an overly opinionated forum. I did my research by hanging out with people who work on these cars every day. Race them, repair them, love and hate them. You are no better then me.

At least the new guys ask honest, innocuous (albeit poorly researched) questions.

Most BMW owners are Honda owners in disguise. Genuine BMW owners like me are few and far between.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Enough with the Kpeng whipping. Children's questions may be cute the first hundred times they ask the same damn thing, but after a while, you want to tell them to go play with a plastic bag over their heads.

Sadly, owners of original or nearly-new E46s are slowly but surely being replaced by snot-nosed, acne-riddled, testosterone-addled teens and young adults who buy our aging cars (now that they're somewhat affordable to them on their just-above-minimum wages) not for the performance or the prestige, but to show off to similarly-uninformed others who think stuff magically works, Justin Bieber is somehow hot, and who know nothing about BMW history, tradition, or peculiarities. And as we have seen all too often, frequently purchased with no research or knowledge of the mark beyond, "it's a BMW!"

So we'll keep getting oil change comments, pictures of the Honda M3 and damn chrome car(s), remarks about borderline-obscure easter-eggs ("did you know our instrument panel lights dim automatically with light level changes?!?"), and when feathers get ruffled, another deep-night "you're ghey" pissing contest to amuse the rest of us. Except they'll say "your ghey" or some other grammatical inanity...

But, we'll always have GoingNuts for comic relief...

Happy New Year! Let the fun begin!
